Unacceptable QC and poor quality product.
Do not rely on this product.Context: Throughout the process of putting together a tour-ready 28u IEM/amp rig, I resolved to use Neutrik connectors exclusively due to the consistent quality of the product. It happened that no Neutrik TRS-F-XLR-M passthrough connectors were immediately available, if Neutrik produces them at all. I only needed this style connector for a single connection (albeit, a very important one). I decided to take what seemed a reasonably small risk in purchasing this item for that connection, but I will not be making that mistake again.Result: After finishing the wiring run, verifying using a cable tester, I consistently had continuity between all 3 pins (and obviously a connection that did not work). Fast forward 2.5 hours of de-soldering, re-soldering, and re-making every single connector in this run twice, and the last thing I could think of was to test the passthrough connector itself. Using known good cables on either side of the connector produced the same continuity error. I next used a multimeter to probe the tip, ring, and sleeve directly while checking continuity with the XLR pins. Sure enough- this product came with this issue from the the factory. Conclusion: It is possible and likely that I am the unlucky recipient of a low percentage of flawed connectors, but when you are charging more money than Neutrik does for similar connectors while not implementing the proper QC to ensure such a product is not shipped to consumers, you deserve no brand credibility and epitomize any and all associations with the word 'cheap.' This might be fine for a simple connection in a home studio, but learn from my mistake, do your projects the right way, and do not consider this product or brand for anything mission-critical.
