Knee Scooter for Ruptured Achilles Tendon - Buy One its Fun
After rupturing my Achilles Tendon and now non weight bearing on my left leg, I was given crutches for the first time in my life which I hate.Being a fit, active person who finds crutches very restricting, I went for this Knee Scooter, it is superb. The freedom it gives back that the crutches took away is immeasurable.I can go from the kitchen to the garden caring a drink or a plate of food, I can sit on it to brush my teeth/shave etc, thus taking the weight off my good leg or I can use it as a support for "other" bathroom tasks.Wizing around the supermarket on the super smooth floors is actually fun, and the little basket at the front very useful. It fits easily in the boot of a Ford Fiesta with the quick release handlebars lowered, but you may need some help.At our local park I got quite a few interested glances and comments on that they had never seen one before and what a good idea it is. If you fancy a rest just stop and sit on it, it even has a parking brake..I've managed a few downhill slopes using the brakes which don't look that reassuring but do work OK if you are careful. Going uphill can be a little tricky, but if you are reasonably fit and keep the momentum going its fine. Having pneumatic tyres is a must if you are thinking of taking it outdoors, although it compromises the maneuverability indoors a little, you'll soon be pulling tight u-turns and skimming those skirting boards. The only disadvantage I can think of over crutches is that it doesn't go up stairs !I may be in a cast for some time, which has hit me hard, anything that brings back a bit on independence for me is priceless.

Life saver!
So I broke the cuboid bone in my foot which meant an operation and 4 weeks in a plaster cast, totally non weight bearing. The knee scooter has been a life saver as it's given me my independence back. I can happily scoot round the house, carry things from room to room and generally take all the pressure off my other leg which was really suffering from hopping everywhere. It's fantastically well made, stable and the locking brake mechanism means it doesn't roll away when you are doing things with both hands.I haven't taken it outside but with the large pneumatic tyres, I can't see any issues with that,Great product and fairly priced.

Spend the extra for sturdier product
Bought this for our 23 yr old son who had broken his ankle and had subsequent surgery. Knee rider has been invaluable ensuring leg is elevated and also providing him with much needed independence. In my opinion, absolutely worth the extra money to have a sturdier product which can cope with different terrains. Also the extra padded knee cover was worth purchasing.

Sturdy and easy to use
I have long term ankle problems and this knee scooter is a lifesaver. It allows me to get about, do my shopping and generally go places without the limitations of 2 crutches. It’s easy to carry things in the basket and can be used indoors and out. The pneumatic tyres mean that bumps and curbs are easier to negotiate than with the hard plastic wheels on other versions and the seat and handlebars are simple to adjust for your height. The brake can be pushed to stay on so it doesn’t run away from you ( another feature lacking on some other versions

Life-changing!
Seriously. Had been bedridden since car accident - this wonderful invention allowed me to move around the ground floor of my house without assistance for the first time in weeks. Kneeling on the saddle takes some getting used to, but the benefit to my mental health has been absolutely priceless. Using now for outdoor trips - tyres absorb many bumps etc - and enjoying being able to get out and about a bit more. Basket also handy when shopping! Recommended to me by the guy in the hospital plaster room (thanks Paul!) and I happily recommend this to everyone I meet!

Life changing
The knee scooter is a wonderful invention. It gave me back my independence after breaking my ankle. It is easy to use once you get the knack of it. However it cannot turn sharply, but if you want to better that, you will have to make it bulkier and not indoor friendly

Excellent skooter
The skooter is very stable, extremely smooth. The brake is very reassuring. The skooter folds at the handle bars very easily and it is a relief to use it in comparison to crutches or a zimmer. It would be good if an addition to the soft knee pad rest there was also an attachable and detachable small pad for your actual knee joint. When you have a plaster or air boot and you kneel on the skooter, the cast can dig into your shin. If you could add additional height to your knee, this would relieve that. Nevertheless, the product is excellent.

Heavy and cumbersome
The concept of this is great, in principle, no more crutches so can easily cook and make a cup of tea etc with out balancing on one leg. The service from stride-on was excellent and it came the next day....however ... the knee walker is heavy , clunky and unstable with the extra knee pad . It has a very poor turning circle and getting around inside is tiresome having to lift and turn it all the time . With the addition of the knee pad , it makes it easier to slide off the knee pad. It is a very basic design and could be so much better. Smaller wheels for instance and a lighter frame with a better turning circle. My wheelchair is 4 kilos lighter than the knee walker.
