Unfortunately the Kittyo is absolute garbage. I ordered one for my girlfriend’s birthday before she was going on a week long trip in Europe so she could interact with her cats while she’s gone. When going through setup the unit skipped over setup mode and instead (based on blinking lights that you look up in the manual) went directly to “trying to connect mode” even though we weren’t even able to connect to it with our smart phones in the first place and never selected a router for it. You’d think this might be a common mistake on our part and we should look in the manual. So we did. The solution? Unplug and plug back in the Kittyo. If that doesn’t work? It literally tells you to repeat those steps multiple times. Ok, so we powercycle the thing multiple times and nothing changes, doesn’t show up on WiFi still. The next thing to try would be the reset button, the type where you depress a button with a paper clip. Did that and held it for around 10 second, then 20, then 30. Nothing changes, no change in lights, no indication anything reset or even happened at all. This thing seems so janky out of the box as it is, combine it with the thing not even working and you can imagine the frustration. Even when looking online there is no real support, just a ton of ads trying to get you to buy the thing. When reading through the Kickstarter page for issues the devs respond to positive comments but ignore the negative. Save your $250 and buy something else. This device feels like they rushed it to market for a fat payday. I’m returning it tomorrow morning. A few more things, yes the router is 2.4ghz. And even if by some crazy mistake I’m not setting this up correctly (how can you screw up something that doesn’t even have a power button?) it still deserves the worst possible rating for making something so simple, impossible.

We love our Kittyo! It was easy to set up and to share the account information with my kids. My daughter was so sad to leave her beloved cat Moxie when she went off to college. I got in on this thing thru the Kickstarter and anxiously awaited the development, manufacturing, and shipping. It now sits in the back of a cabinet, unused. It won’t stay connected. I’ve been on the phone with their tech support, who BTW is fabulous, numerous times. They always got me up and running, but then when I left the house and actually wanted to use Kittyo, it wouldn’t work. It’s very buggy. I asked for a new unit since I was shipped one of the original ones from the Kickstarter, but they said no. I’m going to buy Pet Cube next as I hear that works better.

I am very happy with my Kittyo product. I keep my Kittyo upstairs and plan to get another for my first floor. My kitty loves the treats and chasing the red dot, and I like being able to check in on him when I am away. I highly recommend this product.

We are a family of animal rescuers. We have eleven cats and six dogs. We received three free Kittyos because me my wife and daughter were participants in the studio audience at the show The View when they featured the Kittyo. When you first take this product out of the box, it really looks interesting and is a nice addition to any room. We set up our Kittyo and connected it to our Wi-Fi and filled the dispenser with cat treats. At first, it was just interesting.The first time I actually used it was when I was bored to death in a doctor's waiting room, waiting for a friend. I connected to my Kittyo and the first thing I noticed was how calming it was to know that my dogs are not killing my cats when we're not home. I activated the laser and my cats went from sleeping to completely excited as soon as they saw the laser moving across the floor. The Kittyo makes a slight sound when you activate the laser and now all my cats know that sound and come running as soon as I activate it. They know they're either going to get a treat or get to play with the laser. I have one device filled with cat treats and the other filled with dog treats. I gave the third one to a friend who also loves it and uses it all the time. This product turned out to be more than just a cat toy. The cats love it and I get peace of mind of knowing that I can see what's going on inside my apartment at any time. I get to monitor my cats my dogs and my teenage children from anywhere at any time. I'm sure this product was intended to be used for fun, but it turned out to be one of the most useful gadgets in my house.
