The only difference between sizes is the length and width of blue foam. Your waist measurement and buoyancy needs determine your size. Take a CURRENT waist measurement before proceeding. This is ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR MEN because your pant’s waist size is flattering! SMALL SIZE: BLUE FOAM is approx. 28 x 5½ inches. Black strap is 50 inches. Fits waist sizes 26-33 inches. Pick SMALL if you're female and have average buoyancy needs. The blue foam does not have to wrap all the way around your waist- it’s okay if it only goes partway around. Our size SMALL is NOT recommended FOR MEN unless you’re small framed. Anyone with a waist size of 31 inches or less must wear size SMALL as M/L blue foam will be too big. MEDIUM/LARGE SIZE: BLUE FOAM is approx. 33 x 5½ inches. Black strap is 50 inches. Fits waist sizes 33-50 inches. Pick M/L if you're male (most men need M/L as they're "sinkers" due to more lean muscle and heavier bones), or if you're female with a waist of 32 inches or above who prefers more buoyancy to ride higher in the water, or if you like the foam to go further around your waist. The M/L belt is longer and a bit wider so it feels like more foam. SIZE OF BLUE FOAM CAN VARY (±1½ inches) in length and (±½ inch) in width as belts are custom molded using small batches of liquid foam, not mass-produced from a sheet of foam. Foam can vary in texture and color and have bubbles or slight imperfections. Won't affect functionality. TO SEE HOW SIZES WILL FIT: Measure 27 & 32 inches around your waist to see approx. where blue foam on each size will end around your waist. The foam doesn't have to go completely around your waist for comfortable fit and adequate buoyancy. What matters is the belt floats you and you're comfortable.

Most comfortable and effective float belt on the market (IMHO)
I absolutely love this float belt!1) The black buckle belt more of an elastic material so it has some give and is not digging into your skin2) It doesn't ride up when your in the water. I used it today for laps in the pool (I'm a terrible swimmer) and I didn't have to adjust it once while I was in the pool3) It dries super quick. By the time I finished soaking in the hot tub after my laps, the float belt was dry to the touch4) It works! It kept me right where I wanted to be in the water--not sinking to the bottom!I'm a tall, plus size woman and the Med/Lrg fit perfectly. It was the most comfortable aerobics float belt I ever wore. Because of it's low, tapered profile, it doesn't jab into all parts of your back. And the elastic type black belt keeps it securely in place without it cutting off your circulation.I'm giving this one to my son and going on the company's website to order it in one of their vibrant colors! (BTW- it's cheaper on their website)!

The Water Gym float belt is exactly as promised!
This float belt is the best I've experienced. It is perfectly adjustable and with the elastic belt it is super comfortable. When in the water, it did its job and I never noticed I had it on. I do water aerobics in 12ft deep water and it held me up great. I'm a size 16 and purchased the med/large which fits nicely. I let some of my (larger) friends try it and it was no problem to adjust and enjoy.

Great product
Am using this for workouts in the swimming pool. Spoke with the company before ordering. They helped me get the right size. Very friendly and professional. Product is really good and keeps me upright at all times. It’s nice to be able to exercise in the pool without putting any weight on my knee. I would buy again

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS!!!! I rarely write product reviews. This product is so awesome I had to tell you. This was my 3rd try at a float belt. The first two were uncomfortable and didn't hold me vertical very well. This is so comfortable and holds me vertical. All the float belts will ride up. The ride up on this is much less than the first two. This is the BMW of float belts. I don't go into the pool without it. I just love to float around, relax, and do some aerobics. I want to buy a second one in case they stop making these when mine is ready to be replaced.

Works great for running in the pool!
I bought this to use as a result of a running injury. I needed to simulate a run without striking my heel. After reviewing several other products and reading dozens of reviews I tried this. It worked great! I am 5'10 and weigh 178. I have an athletic cut with long legs, but a shorter torso. I was debating between the large and small. I decided to go with the large. It fits fine. I do have to tighten it, and it reaches almost around my waist once I do with less than a hands width opening. I'm a 38C, so it doesn't ride up. Even without the chest, it still doesn't ride up like other reviewers stated. I am able to run in place as well as run across the pool. My goal was for it to allow me enough buoyancy in the water to not have my full weight on my foot but still let me stay in the water so I could run and exercise- it did great!

Best belt ever
This belt is the ultimate in comfort and performance. The tapered sides provide a nice comfortable fit and the thickness and density of the foam provide great buoyancy for water aerobics. The elasticized strap allows you to cinch it up tight enough so it doesn't slide up. This is the best belt I have EVER used and I've tried 5 or 6 other styles. This one is a keeper.

Defects from Manufacture
This Float Belt was delivered with a couple of finish defects in the outer covering that seemed unconsequential to the use of the float belt. The small defects have begun to leak pool water. I am afraid this is causing the float belt to become unusable. Since the return time period has expired about three weeks ago, I am unable to return the belt for an exchange due to a manufacturing defect.
