Rector 3100-8-00-0 Fat Boy Knee Pad, Nylon Fabric, Large, Black (Pack of 2)

The pads are for the most part true to the OG Fatboys that the pros were experimenting with in the days. If you look at the other reviews they'll say the caps broke after a few sessions so I got some aftermarket caps from "burly caps". If you want real skateboarding kneepads get 187's, or even better Pro Designed. Rector sold to Ali a long time ago and they mainly sell to the military. They don't even make recaps for their own pads. I'd like to clear something up. I saw another review complaining how these are "youth" kneepads. The guy made the mistake of reading the packaging and not trying them on. They are marked as youth but are indeed adult large. Just another sign that the company was sold to a third party that doesn't even double check their quality or marketing. Everything's on autopilot. Still true the OG's nonetheless.

I'm 47 and this is my second time ordering these. They were great at first for about 4 months then the cap cracked. Second time on a second set. It's a shame I really like the fit but I keep cracking the caps. Get that fixed and you'll have a customer for life. As of now I think I have to try another brand.

Cannot say how much I adore Rector's Fatboy knee pads. I'm an avid roller derby player, and these are the best-fitting pads I've found for my legs. As a tall lady with large legs, this is no easy task.The interior padding is shaped specifically for the anatomy of the knee (rather than flat padding that most derby knee pads feature), and falls are akin to falling on a pile of kittens. So soft and comfortable. Due to the fact that the padding cups and hugs the knee tightly, these knee pads aren't going anywhere - a proper sized pad doesn't slide down. Despite a lot of heavy use, these pads normally last me almost an entire season, which I cannot say about any other brand I've tried. Because these pads are a little longer (both above and below the knee) than most derby pads, it offers a little bit of extra protection against errant skates making contact with the shin.These pads are hard to find outside of Amazon (my local skate shop has stopped selling them recently), and assuming Amazon/Rector doesn't stop selling them at some point, I'll likely wear this brand my entire derby career. Whenever people ask for recommendations on knee pads (due to disliking theirs), I am the first to whip them out of my bag and offer them up to try. Awesome product.

I used these for roller derby... They were awesome the first week or 2. They did tend to slip down my leg, but were fairly easily pulled up. I washed them as I always wash my pads/gear and all the foam inserts fell apart. So they're now useless. I've been playing for 5 years and have never experienced a set of pads falling apart like these did. It's a shame, because full price on these is around $70.

Replacing a pair of 1990's era Rector Fatboys. Just like the originals, these pads have neoprene sides with velcro so that you can put them on without having to slide them up from your feet on up. Time will tell if they hold up like the originals (I'm only replacing the originals because I lost them.)

Amazing and comfortable knee pads..! My favorite for years.. but looks like the quality of the plastic is not good anymore.. Maybe I'm wrong..After the 4 time using them in a vert ramp they crack :( I'm really bummed because I can't fix it.. and there is nowhere to find the re- camps this days.

Heads up, these are JUNIOR LARGE KNEE PADS and NOT ADULT SIZE LARGE! So frustrating, I can't find adult large Rector fat boy pads, been wearing this brand for 8 years and want to replace with the same item. Amazon, update your descriptuon with JUNIOR info so you don't waste other customers' time!!
