Coffee Pot

I am only giving it a 4 rating because I haven't had it for more than a week. However, if it continues being as perfect as it is I will be glad to make it the 5 stars it deserves. So far it does everything it claims. Coffee is warm even when I tried it at 5pm. I made the coffee at 5am. I put the hottest tap water in it to start- not boiling by any means and let it set for about 10min. (I should also mention that I use the same temperature water to preheat my coffee maker pot as well). There is no leaking. It is very easy to pour from my coffee maker into it without spills. The lid is easy to screw closed and seal is great. I make 8 cups of coffee and this pot holds all with room to spare. Easy to clean and I do like the brush that comes with it. I do have arthritis in my wrist so pouring can cause some pain. With this pot I have no issues at all. The handle gives me just the right leverage. The pot came with other things I bought and there were no shipping issues. Very pleased.

When I purchased this item, there were no one-star reviews. I'm sorry to see they are all about the lid issue that I had. I believe this may be due to a bad batch from the factory. I wrote to the company (via Amazon) after trying EVERYTHING I could think of - pressing the lid for one"click", two "clicks", having both components hot or cold, one cold the other hot (both ways), warm carafe, cold lid, etc. No matter what I did, the lower portion of the lid assembly would fall off inside the carafe every time I pressed the lever or gave the carafe a sharp jolt. Eventually, it no longer even "clicked" or stayed together at all. I contacted them to see what I could do, if anything, to buy a replacement lid only. They responded very promply and told me there was no lid-only option. They then offered to replace the whole item, issue a refund, or contact the factory to get me a new lid. I figured if I returned or exchanged the item, it would likely be discarded, as most companies would do. That seemed incredibly wasteful to me, as the carafe itself was perfectly functional, if only to water plants or some other similar use. It even worked o.k. without the bottom part, as long as it wasn't carried at an angle, otherwise it would leak out of the spout when full. I opted for a replacement lid from the factory. When they gave me the options, they let me know that it could take a few weeks for it to arrive. Well, I'm very glad I chose a new lid. I don't believe it took long as they thought it might - I can't really remember, because I wanted to use it for a while before I left a review or contacted the company again, just to make sure it worked properly this time. This carafe is terrific at keeping cold liquids COLD. I imagine it would do equally well in keeping hot liquids hot, but I don't drink hot drinks, so I can't give an opinion on that. I can tell you that the company is wonderful to work with, so I'm sorry that the one-star reviewers didn't contact them to see if they could get the issue fixed. I believe they would have been as pleasantly surprised as I was. To me, it's always worth trying to remedy an issue before leaving a negative review of a product. Many companies will try to make sure the customer is satisfied with their product or service, whatever it takes, so it never hurts to ask. :-)

We've owned several thermal carafes over the years. This one does a good job of keeping the coffee hot and has a few really nice features that should extend its life. It has a wide mouth opening making it easier to use a bottle brush and see what you are doing rather than hoping you got all the residue out. The top slightly overlaps the carafe, making it each to grab and turn. And my favorite, the pout spout lever is protected by design so you are not leveraging it or straining the hinge when screwing or unscrewing the top

The only reason I gave this carafe 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is a piece inside the carafe when you receive it, which is supposed to be attached to the inside of the lid. There are no instructions sent with the carafe, but I got an email a day or two later explaining how to attach this mystery piece. It is also in the Amazon listing, I believe, but you have to look for it. I followed the instructions, but no matter how well the piece seemed to "click in," as soon as I depressed the lever to dispense the beverage inside the carafe, the piece would fall off, so I just gave up and threw the piece in a drawer. Poor design!However, I do not need this extra piece. My coffee stays hot in this carafe for a few hours in the morning, and that's all I need, so I am happy with it. It is lightweight, and easy enough to clean. I haven't tested its ability to keep things hot/cold for more than a few hours, but for my purposes it works well.

When I first received the carafe, it was difficult to screw the lid on tight-that is why I only gave it 4 stars in my previous review. After using the carafe, the lid screws on much easier. It does keep the coffee hot for 12 hours if you fill the carafe with hot water for 10 minutes prior to putting the coffee into it. It is lightweight and the mouth is wide for easier pouring of the coffee from the coffee maker. I previously had air pots, but I find this carafe much lighter and it takes up less space on my counter. It does hold 12 cups of coffee easily.

I love the sleek design and stainless steel finish. My primary reason for ordering this model was because other people who had purchased the carafe said that it kept liquids hot all day. I put this to the test and found that the 190 degree water I poured in at 9:00 AM was still 190 degrees at 9:00 PM.A few dribbles came out from the dispenser top when not sitting flat on the counter.

I have had the carafe a few days. It has a better cap/lid than others I've had. I had another brand that lasted only 6 months before it lost vacuum, then cold coffee in less than an hour. I'm hoping since Fesch Design offers a 3 year warranty it will hold up to its claim.
