I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to do that...
This product did not fit my sony xperia z5 compat as advertised, nor did it work. As you can see from the photo it is very difficult for a cable to work properly if it comes in pieces...

Not suited for all electronics due to design
Functional. The magnetic clip pulls off easy, but at the same time is a little too small which may make it difficult to remove from some products
