A book every clinician, family member, and suffer should read
This book should be required reading for any clinician in the field, as well as family members of sufferers and sufferers themselves. Tabitha hits the nail on the head yet again with every aspect of malnutrition, recovery, and in general, the life and brain of someone with AN. As someone who sufferers from the illness, every section of the book felt relatable and put my thoughts and experiences into understandable and coherent words. Tabitha validates the hardships and makes the very difficult process of neural rewiring in recovery make sense by going in depth into the biological mechanisms of Anorexia and energy deficit (while keeping it understandable for the layperson). The books gives practical advice and tools for anyone pursuing recovery. I love the addition of quotes from actual adults in recovery and I also love Tabitha's personable, empathetic, and straightforward approach. It was 555 pages, but I did not struggle to get through it at all, as it had a wonderful and readable flow. Although I have completed the whole book, I will definitely be going back and rereading sections as they become relevant. This, along with Tabitha's other book, Love Fat, as well as Carrie Arnold's Decoding Anorexia, are must reads for anyone who has an eating disorder, knows someone with an eating disorder, or is a professional in the field. I could not recommend this book enough! Thank you Tabitha for continuing to not only educate the world on the reality of eating disorders, but also do it in such a compassionate way that makes sufferers feel so understood.

After suffering with anorexia for more than 20 years, this book has radically improved my life and recovery in two months time
I have had anorexia for more than twenty years and have done a lot or work and therapy and reading for my recovery. This book has been life-changing on my road to recovery. Farrar explains the biology of anorexia and how to re-wire that part in my brain. It is the first book that has made sense to me about what anorexia actually is: a brain-based mental illness, and how I can actually recover from it: by re-wiring my brain and doing the things that my brain is afraid of: eating food and eating foods that scare my anorexic brain. I started reading her blog in May and bought this book and her memoir Love Fat. My life is radically different than it was before I started reading her book, and I am so thankful for discovering this resource. I am eating food during the day for the first time in many years, and I'm eating with my family and experiencing fellowship with friends and family around the table in a way that I didn't imagine possible for me and especially in this short amount of time. I recommend this book to anyone who is suffering with anorexic or for someone who has a person in their life suffering from anorexia. It offers hope and encouragement and humor for recovery from anorexia.

An amazing book for Self Recovery from Anorexia
Tabitha Farrar creates this wonderful guide to overcoming anorexia with a lot of perspective and tough love. For some one suffering, this will probably introduce ideas that they have never heard of, but can be so so soooo helpful to their recovery. The concept that you don't have to be underweight on the BMI scale to be underweight for the body you have is important, since anorexia is often ignored in people who present at a "normal or overweight" bmi range. For support people, parents/SOs/friends, this can give a lot of perspective and insight to the biological causes of eating disorders, why someone who has an ED should never go on a diet even after recovery, and the thoughts someone with an ED might have that are hard to understand.Tabitha's work, on youtube/podcasts/blogs/books, is fantastic and insightful for recovery from restrictive eating disorders.

Enlightening and funny!
This book is a real wake up call to people like me who supposedly recovered from anorexia years ago but still live a very restricted thinking. It made me rethink many of my behaviors and attitudes about weight gain and my dear of it while also reassuring me that most of the craziness was related to the disease and can be overcome. This is the only book I've ever read on the subject that hasn't made me feel worse. I would also highly recommend watching Tabitha's YouTube channel and reading her blog. Both are filled with humor and good advice!

most helpful anorexia book
I 've had anorexia for 33 y. No success with traditional hospital treatment. This book and my actual therapist are giving me the chance to get life i was looking for. You gotta read this book if you are serious about recovery. It gives so much up-to-date informations, a new way to approach recovery without so much guilt and psychological questioning(what are the causes under the ED). More of a biological approach. Thank you Tabitha. My therapist and you are gifts to me.

Insightful and Instructive
Tabitha Farrar offers amazing insights into the mind and thought-processes of those suffering with anorexia and other restrictive eating disorders. This book can be a useful tool for identifying and challenging unhealthy behaviours, and can be helpful for readers at any stage in the recovery process (before and after rehabilitation). I highly recommend this book to readers or caregivers impacted by restrictive eating disorders and would also recommend the authors YouTube channel for additional content.
