Buy separate pens & you'll be fine.
Bought this as a gift, and was glad I let them open it while I was around, so I could see that the pens were *impossible* to open (even with pliers & 2 strong men trying to pry them open). I had to order a separate set of pens and ship them to the recipient because they were unable to use the pens at all. It was a little disappointing.

My niece seemed to like this. She's 4. My only complaint would be that it takes a bit longer than stated for the drawings to erase themselves for her to start all over again.

Sturdy, good on the go
Some spots seem to hold water more and blend rather then disappear with other spots. Daughter doesn’t seem to notice so it’s a win for her.

Cheap and would not recommend.
Cheap. The mat has not cleared up after the kids played with it. The pen leaks. It was not worth the purchase
