No-brainer upgrade to add WiFi to an existing system.
Ironically, I haven’t used this with a Raspberry Pi (the RPi’s in our house are the newer models with WiFi built-in) but the Raspberry Pi support does translate into seamless Linux support. The adaptor is directly supported with no effort in both Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and 20.04 LTS systems I’ve tried it on. It was also plug and play on the Windows 10 system I tried it with. The form factor, with the antenna sticking out, provides better reception, and also allows upgrade to a higher gain antenna, but is less compact than the “tiny lump of plastic” form factor that is also common at this price point. For this reason, I’d consider it a better option for use on a desktop, which is how I deployed it. The adaptor itself is slim enough, yet also long enough, that neither it nor the included antenna interfere with the use of adjacent USB ports. It’s a single-band 802.11n unit, so temper your performance expectations, but the pricing is very reasonable, and the unit is completely delivers on its advertised functionality.

Works on chromebook!
The wifi (onboard) quit working in my Granddaughter's chromebook. This was the 2nd wifi adapter I tried and thankfully it was plug and play - win! This particular chromebook did not have a recplacable wifi card, but instead it was on the motherboard. Replacing the motherboard was nearly as expensive as buy a new chromebook. So very thankful for this! I did disconnect the wifi antenna wires on the chip before I tried this adapter. :)

Modest improvement on Raspberry Pi.
I have bought several of these to use on Raspberry Pi 3+. I am using these for digital signage and the Pi is mounted inside a kiosk. We were having trouble with the wifi signal being too weak and units dropping offline. I installed these adapters using an antenna cable so the antenna could be installed on the top of the kiosk. The increase in signal quality is not dramatic, but it is enough to improve the overall network reliability. The chipset was recognized by the Linux OS without any issues. Some users have complained about the unit running hot but in my application they are barely warm.

Chromebook compatible
This product was plug-and-play compatible with my Samsung Chromebook (Version 100.0.4896.133 (Official Build) (64-bit)). I plugged it into the USB port, and it just went to work. No driver install. No manual switching from the native WiFi adapter (if you can even do that). It picks up a WiFi connection that's 500 yards away. Now the source is line-of-sight and is admittedly weak, and drops occasionally, but with a little attention to my position it's usable. A Speed Test gave me 6mb download speed. Closer connections are much stronger. I may try attaching a better antenna to it since the antenna on this one is detachable.

Doesn't support monitor mode on raspberry pi 4
The reviews and online documentation say this supports monitor mode but I believe those reviews were prior to the release of RPI v4. Does not support monitor mode on RPI 4. I ended up using Alfa AWUS036NHA

It just worked
No needed a longer range radio for a Radpberry Pi controlling an appliance outside of the house, and this adapter coupled with a high gain antenna brought the signal strength from -75 dBm to -66 dBm

Clear improvements for raspberry pi 3b+
Ping test without antenna:61 packets transmitted, 53 packets received, 13.1% packet lossround-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 2.604/26.497/125.761/26.207 msPing test with antenna:61 packets transmitted, 61 packets received, 0.0% packet lossround-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 2.067/10.535/81.366/18.889 ms\\Device was in the exact same position, on the same network, during the same time of day for both tests. I ran this multiple times with similar results each time.

Wish I could give it zero stars...
Wasted an entire day trying to use it in Arch Linux. Only to find out that this thing just doesn't work. I even checked it with my windows 10 system, and used the stupid tool they supply. Nothing worked. I was feet from my router without a single connection available. No drivers helped, and the tool is almost as bad as the actual device. Please don't buy this thing.

Unica pecca: lavora solo a 2.4 GHz, niente 5 GHz. Poco male però.
