Works, but be cautioned
The battery compartment is poorly designed with no "batteries go in this way" markings and too many parts that are easy to misplace or put together incorrectly. The BATTERIES WILL SHORT OUT if you install them according to the included instructions (guess how I know this). Following the instructions will indeed get the thing to smoke, but not with the kind of smoke you want.Throw the dangerous/useless/inscrutable instructions away and just insert the batteries the way you've been trained to assume, with the negative (flat) end of each battery touching a spring. Make sure you get the insert oriented correctly too... rotating it +/-90 degrees from the correct position will make one of its springs touch a positive terminal and also cause a short.Despite this the smoker works as advertised, assuming you get it powered up without the batteries exploding. I had to stuff a shim inside mine to make sure the batteries made contact at both ends before the thing would turn on though.

Very impressed!
For $15 I'm blown away. Wanted the breville one that's $80 but didn't want to spend the money. To a risk on this and very happy with it. Pits out a ton of smoke very quick.

Works great.
This thing creates tons of smoke, and from a tiny amount of wood. Only thing I would count against it is that there are basically no instructions, (don't worry it's pretty simple to use) and the little screen that holds the wood is not removable to clean.
