A cop based thriller
Well written - exciting plot, telling the story simultaneously from the terrorist and the investigator point of view.Extremely well researched in a number of areas going into great detail on arms, FBI procedures, medical actions and more. Personally I don't like the extreme detail and am more interested in the flow of the story (which was still good) but I know lots of people will enjoy the detail

Super
I actually loved this book but have deducted a point for the dreadful grammar, various typos, annoying Americanisms like 'entering' and 'exiting' a car rather than getting in or out of it and some of the spelling!! The spelling mistakes were at times juvenile, such as:- Forth Floor, Egg Yokes, Collage (College), Roid-rage (Road-rage), Pushily furnished (Plushly furnished) and A sea of tourist (tourists). To list but a few. However, the story is really great! It is one of those that grabs you on page one, never letting go until the end. You quickly become empathetic with the vigilante, really get to like him and never want him to get caught. The instructions were perhaps a little lengthy for some readers, but, I learned how to select and prepare the correct firearm for the prevailing distance and conditions, how to make a bomb and got a taste of being a paramedic too. Yes I am being flippant, but was so captivated that it really felt possible that I could do these things. The essence of this story is it's pace and credibility. It would definitely make a great film and I heartily recommend that you read it.

A real page turner
I know it's the normal opening for a book review, but in this case it fits the bill.I haven't read any Randall Wood before this book, but I will be looking out for them from now on.I was drawn in to the book in the first few lines, by the end of the chapter I was hooked!A good well thought out plot, extremely well delivered. Lots of information on all subjects from ballistics to emergency first aid.I am a genuine buyer and reader, and this is my honest review. But it, read it, enjoy the experience

Believable action and intelligent investigation
I really enjoyed this believable story that takes the criminal and makes him in fact a hero. I found myself wanting Sam to succeed in all his goals, escape free and then recover from his deadly illness. The last few chapters especially, had me gripped and whilst I was alongside the paramedic in the ambulance who was desperately trying to save the Senator's life, at the same time I was rocking along in the train carriage engrossed in the fantastic and final meeting between Sam and Jack before the by now inevitable sad ending of this fantastic yarn, full of so many characters all of whom a book could be created about. This intelligent story of crime and action definitely does not descend to the Popeye and Bluto level of similar books about snipers. Loved it. The best book I have read in ages. Worth six stars!

No one can get away with it all the time!
This book is different for me. The subject matter is exactly what I enjoy, the pace can only be described as suitably quick but comfortable. For the first time I have found a book that will take me along at a pleasing speed. Usually I am grabbed by the scruff and forced by the plot at breakneck speed. This book has a cast of human people who have some excellent abilities. Another reviewer put it more succinctly "easy to put down but hard to ignore. The lead player is Jack Randall, FBI agent who is proficient at organisation, field work and networking. Closely matched with his college paramour Sydney Lewis who is a 'Forensic Fool' she lives breathes and loves forensics. The cast goes on to include the local Sheriff's son who just happens to show them what you can do with a laptop to make investigating somewhat easier. The story is basically about a man seeking to right a wrong made by the Government time after time. He was trained by the Government in the military and he uses these skills to his benefit. He is however under a time constraint – but Jack Randall & Co. just cant keep pace with the man's actions. From DC to the mid west and down to Las Vegas, the locations just change like the wind.

A good pacey thriler
Been on my kindle a year or so. Just got round to reading it and glad I did. A pacey cop/FBI action book. Good characters. Well explained plot. Some very good supporting detail as the plot story develops. The plot held together very well and only 1 part towards the end which was a bit of a stretch. Only afterwards did I realise it was written 10+ years ago.Good author and I will look for some other books by him.Worth a read.

Good thriller that is let down by wordy description in places
A good thriller needs an interesting story with good twists, likable characters and good pacing. The majority of these things were there. The characters were interesting. I especially liked Eric who made me laugh. The story was mostly interesting but I feel the suspect could have been caught so much sooner and that a few twists were too similar. The pacing was mostly fine but in a few cases there was a huge amount of description that did not help the story. It was often rather dull and confusing. It slowed down the actual story which annoyed me. The book was rather long and it is fine if this is used to an advantage but I felt this book could have been 50 or 60 pages shorter. It is a shame as there is definitely a good story here. I would probably not pay to read another another one but if I was offered another one in the series free I would probably read it.

Closure
Jack Randall is not the average FBI agent. He came late to the game but he gets results. His team answers to the Deputy director. Having solved a high pressure case and the resultant media frenzy with integrity, he is their go-to guy. There is a serial sniper taking out high profile criminals who have worked the system to their advantage.Jack and his team narrow the suspect list to one possible man. Jack has to take him down, hopefully alive. They share a past. The man once taught him everything he knew to be a crack sharpshooter. His mentor literally wrote the book the men destined to take him down learned from.Drama, action and believable characters bring this story to life.

Totally compelling read.
A brilliant book. It's so very well written with regard to the characters and plot. There's very little down time from the action to actually breathe.Who am I kidding, breathing's overrated!Reading this story is a terrific alternative to doing abdominal crunches for the duration of the story. I didn't even realise that my muscles were in a state of tension until I read the last word and relaxed.I did wonder why the author was so accurate with the military and medical procedures and read his bio - a paratrooper and paramedic. Now it all makes perfect sense, certainly couldn't have reached the chilling accuracy of the ambulance scene without that practical background.Highly recommended and an author to note.

WELL WORTH THE READ
WELL WORTH THE READEven half-way through the book I was telling myself that this wasn't exactly THE kind of book that I enjoy reading. Boy an I glad I stick with it!Turned out to be a great book with lots of intrigue, great characters and a good storyline.I'm sure I'll be reading more from this author.Connie Carswell@orcanut (Instagram)@orcaloopy (Twitter)Ottawa, Ontario

Criminals for a cause, they can be the good guys.
Loved this book. Once I started reading it I didn’t want to put it down. I think Jack could become one if my new hero’s.I didn’t think for a minute that Sam was really a bad guy., especially considering his targets. You instinctively know he has a purpose and for a legitimate reason. I don’t think his actions and the results were any great loss to society. He was conscious of collateral damage and rarely had any.Looking forward to the next Jack Randall adventure.

Great story, but too much unnecessary detail.
It's a great story but there is too much unnecessary detail. The first third of the book drags because of the detail, then it picks up pace, but the ending also drags because of the detail. At the end, I was keen to find out what would happen to Jack and Sam but had to flip through page after page of all of the medical procedures they were doing on the Senator to the point where I didn't care whether the Senator lived or died. This could be a five star novel if the extra stuff was edited out.

Good, solid, informative read- all while holding your interest.
Not often you get to read a solid engrossing serial sniper yarn, is it? This is one action packed believable story that'll keep your interest up from start to finish. Our hero, Jack Randall seems to have started this case at the top of his game reporting directly to the Deputy Director of the FBI, and is known for getting results. Fast paced with solid informative processes to keep you apprised of why the action moves along the way it does, you'll become glued to this book like I did right through to the very end. I highly recommend this great book.

It's not the chase.
Much about the anti hero is revealed in the initial pages of the book. And about halfway through it's also known who the anti hero is, by the authorities. And yet, unlike some other thriller/ racy books I have read, this comes with good writing and building up to a certain climax and high. Superbly editing and not an extra word in there than needed, this really comes out on top of my readings in the past couple of weeks. All characters are well etched out, and well written. No one is one dimensional and the story itself is gripping to read, although there isn't a very big "why" behind it.

This book would make a great movie. You feel for the characters
Want to make a movie? This book would make a great movie. You feel for the characters, you hate the baddies, you know the types. they actually live in your real time world. You pray for the hero, and that this time isn't the FBI although you know in your guts they are behind the perpetrators a 100% after all their work takes them into the realms of dealing with the perps instincts time and time again. ENJOY this is a great read, well written, articulate, non boring and the stats at the top of each chapter simply tell the story in one descriptive sentence - THE SYSTEM HASTO CHANGE no matter what country you live in the system has to be overhauled.

Movie potential !!!!
Fast paced , technical, a very good read. The writing of this book holds you with just enough suspense and calm breaks to make it hard to set down. This one of the best books I have read in a long time!! I think Randall Wood should send this script in to a movie producer. This would make a GREAT MOVIE!! Loved it keep up the good work.

Astonishing and totally absorbing
I have read many thrillers, true crime and various police and detective stories. This book, in my opinion is by far the very best I have read to date. As the story progressed. I found the tension building and I read as fast as I could to see where the narrative was going. The ending is both sad, but satisfying.

Closure.
Found the book too long:I skipped most of the chapter(s) where the Senator was being handled by the EMT. The book is well researched, well written .(but needs some better proofreading) Entertaining even if the ending was predictable.

Justice?
Evil will rise if all good men are sitting down. Why did it take the sacrifice of 2 people to change the minds and hearts of the rest of the world? It's so depressing but we need to do something.I highly recommend this book. I couldn't put it down.

The author certainly went to a lot of trouble to ...
The author certainly went to a lot of trouble to include details of this and that.My personal opinion is that it's a bit too detailed.I don't care about the name of his razor or whether he showers with hot or cold water ......move along the story. If one treads water in the middle, the reward is a fast paced ending.

Thrilling
What an amazing story. The attention to detail was commendable and the journey exhilarating ... it was a winner in my view. Will buy more books by this author as he has you in the palm of his hand the whole way through Jack Reacher's adventure and you are left wanting more and more. Loved it.

Fun read
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Jack was a fitting main character and Sam a worthy adversary. My only complaint is was there were a few places where I wasn't clear who the new character was, and towards the end, a couple of the confusing characters didn't need to be there. I will read the next one too.
