A decent entry-level electric skateboard
I've a lot to say about this, here's my thoughts on this electric skateboard and some facts I've discovered through commuting on various terrains and hill gradients. It comes with two type of chargers the UK and US ones, the UK one is strangely smaller than most plugs, can be a little difficult to remove from the wall. It's hub 350w dual motors are not the fastest with high torque but will be sufficient for new riders at 15mph. The remote does have three speed settings, although it has a really tiny switch on the side for swapping between the modes.Hill climbing ability is okay but not too impressive, more aimed at flat terrain and slight hills with a 15% gradient. The deck is mainly for teenage riders and for those who want a smaller electric longboard, very light. I was frustrated to find all the mounting bolts are underneath the griptape. (This seems to happen way too often with budget electric skateboards and can make it difficult to do a deck swap if you so wish it)The battery takes exactly 3hrs to fully charge, knowing this will help you prepare for rides and the like. The remote however outlasts the actually battery, a good thing too; especially considering these use swappable battery packs. Remote takes literally 5mins to charge fully. (comes with a USB port connected to the battery/powerbank on your board and a charging cable to bring along for rides, very helpful if needing to charge your phone or other riders remotes too)The swappable battery removal is really easy once you notice it needs pushing out from the ESC (Electric speed controller) casing whilst pressing a button down and pulling on the other side. There's a section for you to hook your finger into and help assist this battery removal. It also has a 'smart' switch-on function that works by simply pushing the board a little, it will beep and there you go; no need to bend down and press the on button! (Brilliant idea that is)It also has a slight 'wheel lock' function; this mainly works by holding back on the remote's throttle. As a result, your board will not move easily, bear in mind this works best when not in motion. The top range using the highest speed mode (15mph) and using a 6ft tall adult rider is 5-6miles. After this you will experience a loss in speed and it could possibly kill your battery completely beyond repair. (we call that voltage sag)In terms of charging the remote and knowing when it is fully charged there's a very small and hidden red light inside the remote itself, you can see this discreet charging indicator light where the wrist strap is. This red light switches off when fully charged. As for the actual skateboard battery, its associated charger has a red light that turns to green when fully charged. (located on the power block thing)I do worry about the exposed ESC casing; mainly because it will allow things like dust and possibly the odd water into its electrics, that is if you ride in wet conditions. (Bad idea, don't do that. Seriously) Supposedly it has a light on the ESC casing too? Unfortunately, there's no instructions on how to activate it... I've also experienced something called 'regen brake failure' All electric skateboard riders should know about this, it's when your board is fully charged and you go for a ride; you try to use your brakes but they don't work. They won't return too unless you use the throttle, doing so for a minute of riding beforehand should stop this from happening.Overall, for a small electric longboard I'm glad to report it has the most ace deck flex especially when in comparison to other rigid/large battery-based electric skateboards; having loads of deck flex at low speeds such as 15mph is ideal, at higher speeds such as 20-30mph a more rigid deck is better. This electric skateboard is ideal for those wanting to try this sport without spending too much. Also, wear protection!Lastly, after a week of using this most days (I did about 30+ miles) the battery wouldn't switch off; all four blue lights were struck on and kept draining the battery. Thankfully I contacted the seller on here and was able to get a replacement battery sent out to me after almost two weeks of emails, it now works perfectly fine. I'm happy. (Turns out this is caused by overheated USB port circuit board... had to replace on both the original and replacement batteries) I've done over 100miles and now the hub motors need replacing too.
