Nexus: The Jupiter Incident (PC)

Has great graphics and is better in terms of battle simulation than Sins of a Solar Empire - Rebellion (I own that also) The only drawback is that there is only a fixed storyline so once that is completed the only place you can go is to start again on a harder level as the original producers Mithis no longer exist and the online attempts to resurrect versions 2 failed.It is let down by install key issues, a trivial thing so mine has gone back and hopefully I will get back a fully working version. My old (scratched disk) install key did work for 5 minutes and then after I took the CD install disk 2 tried it and then put the disk back in and retried it missing authentication file error...Update: received new install disks...they have precisely the same installation key (down to the last digit). Since returning the last set I have found from the Steam software forums the same issue prevails regarding "missing authentication file" this is appears happen on Win7 machines (I have Win764bit) the cure is to right click on the 'setup.exe' on disk 1 and select compatibility options of 'WinXP(SP3') and install only from a Administrator account (it does not need to be THE Admin account) In my case I install in my 'standard user' account and used the UAC permission box that appears to give the install rights to 'change the computer'. That does not work for this as the installer is too old!. Installing from a full Admin login and in XP-SP3 compatibility does work. Only thing is I used my old install key as I could not get the generic one on the box to work. It might work as I mistook an 'I' for a '1' (poorly selected font on box) but I do not want to chance breaking it now I have got it finally working to test the other key.IMPROVEMENT - this no longer requires disk1 in the DVD drive to run anymore, but I still need to run as my Admin login via the UAC permissions box, well at least it runs now and seems to be working OK

For its age of this game the graphics are very good, the storyline is gripping, and although the AI might be a bit slow at times this is totally forgivable as a whole.

This is one of the most incredible games I have ever played and am still playing. With such an indepth storyline, incredible graphics and an innovative concept this game does not go wrong. Set in a far flung future of Earth, you are tasked with commanding a ship and leading her and other ships into battle. It is not, and I repeat NOT an RTS its better term is Real-Time Fleet Simulator. You choose the Weapons, Heavy weapons, Subsystems and the engines, then engage in a number of missions ranging From Stealth, All out assault, Rescue and etc. It has so much to offer, its a shame there are no other games out there that perform quite like Nexus, or even have the temerity to even be like Nexus. Buy it, you will not regret it. It will run on the modern computers so no problems there.

I purchased a computer game earlier this year and keept it as a gift for my son in law as his wife was haviing a baby in October.(froward planing well this product was duly opened and the game Nexus the jupiter incident failed to axcept the product code printed on the back of the product. I ended up trying all variations on the printed code even to leaving out the - links and using just one continous number string. The thing is that the code is clearly printed and un ambigous.( Straight forward to copy ). Well this copy is clearly not a merchantable item and would advise caution when purchasing games that do not contain a sealed code in the box. I hope that Amazon staff see this and take action . As this type of old pc game has a code in plain view perhaps just checking that such a product code works would be a good customer service exercise. It was forwarded to me by Amazons main partner. However all my many other purchases Not P.C. Games)have been top quality. It's an old game but if it is very good. When going to install tht cd -- showing massage 'file error' and couldn't possible install that game. Trying to returning but that waste of money
