Virtually every recipe, apart from the most simple ones, has a photograph, occasionally even stretching to two pages. In some books it can seem that there are too many photographs just to fill space, but this one seems to have the balance just about right. I have bought a number of vegetarian/vegan and healthy eating cookbooks over the years and I appreciate that it must be difficult to come up with 140 interesting and unusual recipes. Therefore you can get some ultra simple 'filler' recipes which are available everywhere. This book has some of these, but not too many and there are enough creative recipes to certainly make the book worthwhile. I certainly hadn't ever seen or considered making a mezze cake for example. This recipe is available online as a video, like some of the others apparently, which is a nice touch but might put people off buying the book. From my personal point of view, I'm not sure why there is a small chapter on cocktails and as someone who does not like mushrooms at all, a lot of recipes do feature them. That's just my personal preference, particularly as non-cocktail drinker and mushroom avoider, but I'm sure some people will appreciate those things more than me. This book is certainly more impressive than a lot of other similar ones I've come across in the past, so I would suggest that most people could learn some interesting new recipes by buying it. Overall very pleased with the book but its lacking in illustrations! It would be nice to see pictures of some of the more complex steps of a recipe so the reader has an idea of consistency of a batter or sauce, for example. Or at the very least, more descriptive terms about what ingredients should look or feel like. I have tripped up a few times on the language used in the book but it's mostly easy to follow and broken down into steps.
