BASE CAMP NEO Mountain Bike Helmet

I seldom write reviews until I've had a chance to give the product some time. Probably saved my life! Had a bad DH crash landing a jump at high speed. ER, Collarbone, stitches, etc. Too much pain to assess my helmet for several days. Finally cleaned it up and this is what I saw. Very rocky terrain where I ride. I remember hitting my head very hard, like someone had hit me with a sledgehammer, before my body continued down the hill. Am buying it again right now as this one is no longer safe. Definitely did the job!

For people with smaller head size, there's a way to adjust in the front. See the location of the front adjustment in my photo. If your head circumference is 21" and below though, you might want to consider buying a small size helmet, because one-size-fit-all helmets look too bulky. Bad thing is that helmets below $100 don't come in sizes.The color is very dark gray, not completely black as shown on photo.I'm impressed with the build quality at this price. My $200 Giro Aeon isn't visibly better (see side by side pic). The real difference comes down to what the helmets are made for: road vs trail. The Base Camp is for trails, thus has a front visor and more rear protection. The Aeon is for the long roads, thus is super light weight (225 grams vs 310 grams) for neck relief at aero body position . On mountain bikes where I sit more upright, the Base Camp visor is very useful to cover my face from the sun and the occasional tree branches.There are some minor touches that I appreciate. The foam around the bottom side of the rim is laminated. I never seen it on a helmet at this price.. There's a chin cover and the buckle is off to one side so that it doesn't scratch the chin. The straps have clips to adjust position below the ears. The visor can tilt up a few degrees or be removed completely with screw drivers.The helmet feels a bit front heavy, but it doesn't rotate down because I tightened the back wheel.

The first thing I noticed was Base Camp's attention to detail. The helmet arrived inside a its own carrying bag. The helmet itself is of sturdy construction and the strap has plenty of room for adjustment as needed. The padding inside is nice, and also serves as a net to keep bugs and debris from coming through the vents and reaching your scalp.I am a guy with a larger head than most, and have had to return other cycling helmets in the past. This one works for me though. The adjustment on the back of your head is nice as well, as it snugs it up against your head in just the right place to hold it correctly. The visor is not too much, and it does not interfere with my riding glasses.One concern I had before ordering was not seeing a picture of the helmet with the visor removed (see picture). With it removed though, I am still happy, and it still looks good.It was a great price for a great helmet. It's not the least expensive on the market, but when you are purchasing protective equipment, it's worth it. It has multiple features and adjustments, you will not be disappointed. I'm ordering a second one as a gift for my son.

I ordered this helmet because i thought it look good and is cheaper than other helmets of the same style. I have a smaller sized head and wasn't sure if it would fit well, but I took a chance anyway. When the helmet first arrived I put it on and tightened the ratchet strap in the back all the way down, the helmet did not fit. I was disappointed because it was a little loose and only needed a tiny bit more adjustment. I was about to send it back and i notice that on the front inside of the helmet, on both sides, there were adjustment tabs forward of where the tabs came from the factory. I pulled on them with a bit of pressure and the tab came out and relocated it to the other tab that is located in front of the original tab about an inch. I put the helmet back on and it fit perfect. I made my wife try it on because she has a smaller head than me and it fit very well. overall the helmet seems to be built well and has an nice finish. This helmet will fit if you have a big or small head and feels nice while riding. only complaint is that the helmet did not ship with any instructions and I almost sent it back.

Excellent helmet!I really like this helmet as it was affordable, durable, lightweight!I needed another bike helmet for bike paths and some trail riding as the helmet certainly did the trick!I really like the way it has the extended visor front!This helmet feels better than much more expensive helmets out there. Granted, I’m a value kind of a guy, so if you are looking for high end, this may not be your helmet, but if you are doing trail riding, this is the helmet to grab, especially for the price!

I took a chance on a helmet that cost only $36 but it looked real nice online at Amazon.I have zero regrets, this helmet fits a well if not better than $100 helmets I have had. I have been an avid mountain biker for over 20 years so I have had numerous helmets over the years and until now the Fox Flux had been my favorite but at a much higher $$$. I shave my head and wear either a skull cap or bandana and both work well! I only had two color choices, black and white and went with the white due to the Phoenix sun/heat so I wish there were a few more color choices, not for me but my brother-in-law who was interested but doesn't want either of those colors. That may be due to Amazons selection.Great purchase, thank you Base Camp

I believe the positive reviews explain how nice this helmet is. I’ll be brief, after reading all the reviews I thought I would take a chance on purchasing this helmet. Very glad I did. Fits nice especially with a helmet liner beneath. Used it twice now and it feels comfortable. I’ve only owned a few cycling helmets and I believe this one fits the best that I have owned.

There's loads of expensive helmets on the market, and I have bought a few of them. I wanted to grab a cheap one this time as I've just got a new bike and needed one. It fits great, feels comfortable, keeps my head cool and looks good. Really happy with this and I know I'm not going to be replacing it for ages. Quality is good and all points where straps are attached feel strong enough to last. Nice budget helmet.

first time i wore this i had a freak accident where i landed on the back of my head on a stone. it made quite a dent in the back of the helmet instead of my skull so money well spent.looks pretty cool too.

4 adjustibles in total. Which is great especially if you have an oddly shaped head like mine. One at the rear to secure to the head, plus the obvious clip to fasten the helmet, then two other bits which I believe are there if you have massive ears?I haven’t come off my bike since buying this but it beats wearing a normal cap.I will never go without it after seeing my dads friend come off without a lid and catch his head on a curb leaving him with permanent brain damage.

The helmet is one of the most comfortable that I have worn. But after 4 months the clip for the neck strap crumbled off and so the helmet is now useless.

Bought for helmet my teenager. Bought a helmet less than a year ago and now is too small. Trying other helmet found them either too expensive or didn't fit right. So, decided on this 'Base Camp NEO Mountain Bike Helmet'. It fitted my daughter's head very well. I'm very please.

Brought as a gift ,recipient loves it. Likes that it covers back of head and not just top section. Adjustable straps are easy to use. Easy to attach a camera to as well. Can not say how well it would actually protect in accident but hopefully we will never need to know that.

After two 30 mile round trips on varied towpaths/cycle paths in 20+ degrees, this was comfortable with good airflow, peak keeps the sun out of eyes too. Easy to mount an action camera too. Matt finish.

Very stylish helmet that can be customised, meaning with or without the beak on the helmet. Very sturdy to, there is a mechanism at the back which allows the helmet to be adjusted to all head sizes.

Looking for something safe, something modern, and something complying to safety regulations, hasslt free fit with the adjustable rotating wheel at the back of, overall a solid helmet for adult.

THIS IS A NICE HELMET it also has a liftable visor . took a while to figure it to fit ( no instructions ) but got there in the end.

Helmet fits well (6'0 male) and feels safe and secure with the extra protection at the back of the head and easy adjustable wheel. Quality product at a reasonable price.

Quick delivery, great service!!! The product itself is extremely well made but light enough that you barely notice you have it on. Would and have recommended to others. Luckily I haven't fallen off my bike to test its durability but feel confident that if I do it will do the intended job with ease.

Good fit, easily adjustable with the wheel at the back, looks kinda similar to a BELL super 2 which are around £90rrp. Will update review after a few rides!
