Fantastic swim vest
This isn’t a life jacket. I’m an alarmed by all the reviews talking about this being a life jacket for small children. It’s clearly printed on the label, Not a Life Jacket. This is a swim aid. If a child was injured, unconscious, or in fast moving water this might keep them afloat, but it would not prevent them from facing down like a true life jacket. When used appropriately, this vest is fantastic. My almost 4 year old has been in swim lessons for three years, and she can get herself to the edge of the pool if she falls/jumps in. However, she’s exhausted after about 10 minutes of unassisted swimming and begins to struggle. For still learning and new swimmers who are building muscles and stamina, this jacket allows them to swim/play for hours while also making them use their muscles/skills to hold their bodies upright and faces out of the water. It is brightly colored - easy to spot the child even in lake or river water. It provides good buoyancy - the child will not sink if they accidentally fall in the water. There are 8 foam blocks inside the vest. You can remove them 2 at a time to decrease the buoyancy, i.e. make the child work harder to stay afloat. The vest is very comfortable and allows the child the freedom to move about, unlike bulky life jackets. Our petite kid is almost 4 years old, 37 inches tall and 32 lbs. I’m ordering our second vest because the first one is significantly stretched out. She wore it for two summers - at least 50 times. I’ve washed it on gentle several times and it comes out clean and unharmed. But now it won’t shrink back to its original shape. For the cost, we definitely got our money’s worth and I’m happily ordering a replacement. Hopefully, she won’t need a vest at all by next summer.

Great for learner.
This is not a life jacket so it shouldn’t be used as one. It is good for learning to swim, float or just being held in the water. The insides come out so they can removed when not needing as much swim/float support. Like the look and fit well on my 12 month old grandson. Not heavy at all and he doesn’t mind wearing it.

Shipped from China within 2 weeks. Product is soft enough for my baby, it fits well and floats him. Came with ear plugs and nose pincher.

Unobtrusive
We got this life jacket for our 19 month old son because we were around an unenclosed pool in the summer. Whenever we went to that house we put it on him to wear the entire time at the house. So he wore this a lot. The upside is that it is fairly unobtrusive. He was able to run around, play and eat while wearing it which was great. When we tested it in the pool it’s not the greatest. The old school vests turn the kids over and keep them on their backs. This keeps him bobbing on the surface, but he rolls around so his head goes in the water. We also had him wear a water alert bracelet so that if he fell in it would set off an alarm.Overall this did exactly what we wanted. But if you were on a boat or in open water with a child who had no swimming skills I’d get one of the old school ones with the support behind the head that keeps them on their back.

Comfortable and cute! Control the buoyancy also.
We love this vest. At our local YMCA all babies are required to wear a life vest. We had purchased another one that went around the back of her neck to make her always float on her back but she couldn’t stand it , and it looked extremely uncomfortable. We purchased this one and what is great is that you can remove some of the pads to make sure she floats evenly in the water where she isn’t laying too much on her back or too far forward. She seems very comfortable and happy , barely noticing that she is wearing it. I recommend this to anyone.

We bought this for our infant because it said life jacket. It is NOT a life jacket. It's a swimming vest to help assist begginer swimmers, even says that in the literatue.. Even with him at only 25 lbs it will not keep our son above water line. Contacted them for a refund when it finally got warm enough to try it. They refused. (Admittedly we did have it for over 30 days before it was warm enough to try it.)

If your baby is small, add arm floaties. 🙂
I bought this for my very small 2 year old. I had a similar one for my son when he was a toddler. I had tried several different vests for him and he always tobbled over. So I was looking specifically for this style, where the floaties went all around the waist. My daughter floated just fine with it but didn't know she needed to kick her legs and move her arms to maintain her balance, so she clung to me our of fear. So I put on the dollar arm floaties and that made all the difference! She was so comfortable she no longer wanted my help. I think as she starts to figure out how to move in the water we can drop the dollar arm floaties. Nothing is wrong with the vest! Sometimes just adding a little support makes a HUGE difference.
