Phenomenal
This book is literally a phenomenal experience, you'll go through the bleak and colourless aspects of life which certainly teach you a hefty. Reading this book you'll feel each and every emotion of what a writer wants to convey. Most recommended.

Dark, Disturbing and Intense!
While most of the reviews say that it is a book you cannot put down, I beg to differ. This is a dark, disturbing and intense crime fiction that shook me in sadness. Sally Diamond a loner living with her ailing father decides to dispose his body after death in a garbage bag by burning it in her backyard. Why? Not because she didn't love him, because he had told her jokingly a couple of times. The trouble that ensues after, is anything but funny.I picked it up thinking it was dark comedy with crime. But as the plot thickens, and we get to know about Sally and her childhood, it gets gory. Honestly, I couldn't read more than two chapters at a stretch. While the story was well executed and characters complex added to the tale, it was one that gave me sleepless nights. Themes like paedophile, child abuse, mental health were incorporated in the novel. The plot unravels and the two narrations alternate between chapters. After a long time I read a crime thriller this intense. The last one was The Chestnut Man. For all those who love an intense crime thriller don't miss this one. This is my first book of Liz Nugent, I look forward to reading more of her books.

Gripping Start but obvious End
The book starts with a gripping and jaw clenching start but turns mediocre in middle and predictable in end.Should have keep the darkness that it begun with till end..that's what a thriller according to me is all about.

Brilliant, as usual but...
But surpassed the books before. I'm in hospital unwell and still could not stop reading. Buried my Kindle under the blanket like a kid,!

It is dark. It is emotional. It is sinister and uncomfortable. It is a treat for thriller lovers.
Sally Diamond burns her father with trash after his death because that’s what she thought her father would have wanted. He did say it to her after all, but now people are saying he was joking, calling Sally strange, and Sally doesn’t understand what the big deal is. As she is coping with it all, this incident opens up doors to her past and defines her future.What. A. Book. With its Eleanor Oliphantesque vibes, this is definitely one of the best psychological thrillers I have read this year. It actually played with my psychology in a way rarely any book has before. The point that stood out was how attached I got to the characters (in a good and bad way), and how the book kept fooling me. Super easy to read, it is written in different timelines and perspectives, but super easy to follow. It is dark. It is emotional. It is sinister and uncomfortable. It is a treat for thriller lovers.A fresh thriller that is a must-read and will leave you wanting more!

Best book I’ve read in ages!
It starts off in a way that makes you read more! I normally don’t find a book that I love, because I regularly lose interest. This book keep me interested all the way through, and I found the writing excellent. I recommend. I will be reading other books by this author.

Great Book
Ashamed to say that in the past I have tended to avoid Irish authors (bad school memories). However, after ‘Strange Sally Diamond’ I have been getting into Claire Keegan, Colm Toibín, Graham Norton, etc. ‘Strange Sally Diamond’ is a gem. Read it through in a few hours.
