Jagged Alliance 2 Gold Pack

Best third person squad based war game ever made, even with the dated graphics.
If you like turn based small squad warfare with a little resource management on the side (less so on JA2UB), then there was/is no better game IMHO. A classic I've been playing for 20 years, everything is well done from the voice acting, player view perspective, inventory control, and game play. ALSO, there is a healthy mod community out there making various versions of JA2 which can be downloaded for free in most cases. "Dedriana Lives" and "Urban Chaos" are two I have personally played and which I believe are still available at the Bear's Pit website. Additionally, there are some fairly advanced mods that change many of the original dynamics of the game, allowing game play customization down to minute details. But you'll get dozens of hours of play just from the original version. JA2UB actually comes with it's own built in "Editor" that allows you to make your own custom sectors and save them as a "Campaign" which you can then play through. Truly a stand out game in this genre.

A tough classic
I started my Jagged Alliance experience back in the mid 90s with Jagged Alliance Deadly Games. That along with Fallouts 1 and 2 are amongst my favorite games of all times. Finding games like these nowadays is nearly impossible as the industry has all but steered away from the classic turn based strategy game.Anyway... Jagged Alliance 2 is much more like Fallout 1 and 2 then it is like Jagged Alliance Deadly games. You still get to build a team from a big merc pool like in Deadly games, but like Fallout, there is an actual storyline to drive the game as well as a large map to explore. As I said in the title, this game is "A tough classic". Newcomers to the Jagged Alliance series may be overwhelmed by the difficulty and lack of direction. In fact, this is one of the few games I had to use a walkthrough in order to figure out what to do next. I hate to admit that because I almost never use a walkthrough for any game. However, even with a walkthrough this game is still very difficult requiring you to save and reload often. This may be common sense but I will say it anyway. if you are not sure about how to get older games to run on newer equipment, you may want to avoid purchasing this title. It installed and ran just fine on my XP based system, but required me to jump through a few hoops to get it to work on my Windows 7 based system. All in all, this is a great challenging game for those who are bored of the easy games companies push out nowadays. Play it without the walktrough and you will most likely give up due to frustration. Play it with the walktrough and you will find one of those classic gems you were looking for.

Oldie but a goodie
Jagged Alliance 2 coupled with the 1.13 mod gives endless hours entertainment. It satisfies gun nuts, loot lovers and tactical turn-based fans to no end. It's a game that I revisit often and is much more stable through the 1.13 mod. The community really made the game what it is today with all the fan mods that add so much replay.

For my husband
My husband played this game years ago and he wondered if it were still available. I checked here first and got it for him. He seems to enjoy the game just as he did years ago. The price was a great bonus.

Shooting blanks.
I put the CD in the drive, but nothing happened. Seems to happen a LOT more than it used to.

Not a legit copy of the game. Waste of money.
Game appears to be a pirated version. It doesn't work on any operating system. Don't waste your money.

Great old game, caveat emptor.
The game is just as I remembered it, except that my computer (PC with Windows 7) won't load a saved game. Game is pretty pointless if you can't save your progress. Don't know if it is just my computer or a bug in the software. Caveat Emptor.

Wonderful... as long as you don't have Windows Vista
Obviously this is the second Jagged Alliance title and luckily it proved to be just as entertaining as the first. It's one of the few games I've ever played where the makeup of your team (you get to choose which mercs to hire, and when you're finally able to afford to man two teams--necessary due to injuries you will sustain--you get to choose who fights with whom, and not all mercs get along with one another, and they'll let you know) has an impact on how you play the game. The story is very well thought out, the graphics are a bit 20th century, but the game is one for the ages. The biggest mistake, not so much in making the game itself, but in Microsoft's "Vista", is the inability to play several games, including this one. So, if all you have is Vista, save your money. The game IS good enough, however, that I took the time to rifle through old computers of mine and slapped together a working version of XP with an old P4 chip. For the price, it's an absolute steal. This game gave me likely 60 hours of fun. That's about $0.17 per hour of game play. You can't beat that with a stick!

Not for me..
The idea of the game is by making a character was a good idea, unfortunately what let's it down is if you have played Jagged Alliance Back in Action and Jagged Alliance Cross Fire is the graphics which let it down. Just to recap, good idea but not good graphics.
