Soft bristles with enough snap, great for spreading Gesso, paint, varnish or glue. They don't seem to shed bristles. The metal ferrule of the neck is not quite flat to the brush handle, but it has not had any effect on its use. I suppose you could tap it down with a mallet if it really bothers you.
