Another ourstanding work from an extraordinary new writer
The My Blood Approves series is an interesting take on the Vampire mythology. This fourth novel is an excellent addition to the series.Like Twilight, a young girl finds herself drawn to a handsome young(in appearance anyway) vampire, and he finds himself equally drawn to her. While he seems to be able to mesmorize her friends, she finds him attractive, but not captivating. His 'family' welcomes her and she is left to decide if she wants life as a vampire. While Amanda Hocking and Stephanie Meyer may both have been given the above writing assignment, Amanda Hockings books are a very unique answer that in many ways I prefer to the Twilight series. One of the key criticisms of the Twilight series is that there doesn't seem to be enough loss and sacrifice in the 'Happily Ever After' ending. Well, if the Cullen's of Twilight are 'Father Knows Best', then the Townsend's are 'Married with Children'. In the Townsend family people (and Vampires) make mistakes, couples fight, and love triangles don't end up happily ever after for all. Vampires aren't slotted into the good guys and the bad guys. There are several shades of gray. No one is too good to be true. And yet the characters are untimately likeable. It's enjoyable to spend time with the family. One of the best reasons to own a Kindle is the chance to read great new independent authors before they are picked up by a publishing house and everyone knows about them. It's fun to be able to say that you read a hot new author well before their printed book comes out. I have already seen two of my favorite independent authors join publishers, and I look forward to seeing them on the print bestsellers list. I have no doubt that Amanda Hocking will soon join them.

Great Saga.....
I just finished this last book in the "My Blood Approves" series. Admittedly, the first book starts out slow, I almost pitched it after the first 4 chapters but I pressed on, as this series was highly recommended by a fellow vampire-obsessed friend. After we find out what Jack *really* is, is when the book starts to pick up. After I finished the first, the next 3 were finished very quickly. They are easy reads, and the stories flow very well and there are a few twists that were awesome (especially in this last book - wow!!) Here are the negatives: There are quite a bit of grammatical and spelling errors in all books. I have never seen those in published books before but after a quick internet search, I found out Amanda published these herself (maybe she could have paid a freelance editor to look over them tho??? I would have...) Also, the main character Alice is kind of a whiny brat, and her negativity annoyed me a bit...but so was Bella so what can you do. And one last major complaint **SPOILER ALERT** - why wasn't Milo and Alice's mother turned into a vampire at the end so she could be with her true love? Anyway, I DO recommend the books. So there it is there. Enjoy!

Excellent!
I loved this book! I love the MBA series as a whole. The book begins with Alice awakening to what seems like a terrifying feeling. She's out visiting Mae, Peter and Daisy in Austrailia with her brother Milo and his boyfriend Bobby in tow. She learns quickly, how dangerous the situation with Daisy is and why they need to live off the grid. While in Austrailia she learns the heartbreaking news that someone close her has been murdered. Once home, she mourns the loss and tries to do her own investigation of a possible serial killer in the area. Could this be the making of vampire or human, man or woman? Good questions, that Alice has vouched to find out who it is and take her revenge. In the meantime she has been taking a few lessons in "kicking butt" from the Oliva the ex-vampire hunter. At the same time, Alice is beginning to feel comfortable in her new vampire skin and has befriended Violet the vampire that tried to kill her. Alice and Bobby are now best of friends and Bobby lands up being her new sidekick in the investigation to find the killer. Peter, Mae and Daisy land up in a desperate situation and come back to runaway from what happened in Austrailia. Ezra in the meantime hasn't been himself and moping around since Mae left to Austrailia with Daisy and Peter and now with them back in the house seeking refuge, he's trying to find a way to help them out of a sticky situation. Daisy's bloodlust is never sated and the attacks are becoming more frequent. A new character Rebekah is introduced and has been called upon as a favor to help Daisy adapt as a child vampire. While all of this is going on Jack and Alice are having their own problems. Leif and Alice have a connection. Alice is unsure what it is but Jack and Peter seem uneasy about him. Theres a huge reveal about Alice and Milo, so look for that. There are rogue vampires hunting down the serial killer and the child vampire which in this case leads them to Alice and the Townsends which is not a good combination and it all comes to head as Alice along with Peter land up saving Jack from certain death. There is a lot growth in this book and you grow closer, emotionally to the characters. Good read, wished the book was longer because it ended way too fast. Couldn't put down the book. All in all, best couple of bucks you'll spend. Can't wait for the next one!

Fun Easy read
Nice teen vampire book that's easy to read - does the job! Nothing groundbreaking but sometimes that's exactly what you want:)

Fourth Book Rocks!
The fourth novel in the My Blood Approves series begins with the tragic death of Alice's best friend, Jane: it looks like there is a serial killer on the loose in downtown Minneapolis. But is it of the human variety or something with teeth?Wisdom is another fantastic read. The best thing about it is how much Alice has grown, how strong and independent she's become. She's pretty kickass actually. I love a heroine who knows how to handle herself.Plot-wise, there are lots of truths revealed; lots of heartbreak as Mae has to deal with her out-of-control vampire child; lots of action, as Alice hunts down the person who murdered Jane; lots of romantic ups and downs - but well-handled, nothing annoying, all well-written and surprising real for a paranormal romance. All and all this is the best of the series and it could even be the end. But it is an open ending and I really hope Hocking decides to write more about Alice...especially as her chosen career at the end of the novel would suggest plenty of action-packed sequels.Five HUGE Stars!

So glad I bought it
The exciting fourth book in the My Blood Approves series was just as much a hit as the last three...apart from a few plot issues. Amanda Hocking's writing style is witty and delicate as it smoothes over so you're completely involved in the story. All the characters are relatable in one form or another and deal with real life problems such as divorce and isolation despite it being a book about vampires. I loved some parts of where Hocking took this book and how she continued to develop al the characters in the story; it's almost a what happens after happy ever after. Furthermore, some questions that may have been present in the previous books are answered such as Leif's role and what you do with your life AFTER you become an immortal. This is something that Alice particularly struggles with during the book but i thought it was an exciting new aspect to her bad a** character as she develops her fighting skill with Olivia. Jack however, seems to get increasingly weak through out the book in both strength and likeability which is why I finally understood why Alice may have been paired with Peter from the beginning. As a reader it feels like Jack is too vulnerable and soppy for her as she becomes increasingly strong in both body and spirit she matches her old beau. This is one of the issues I had with book as (spoiler!!) Jack breaks up with Alice after promising her eternity multiple times and turning her into a vampire which seems completely ridiculous as it is over one little spat. Granted it is all about trust and all that but he made her into a vampire! He should at least have some responsibility over his actions. Apart from this one hiccup I thought the book was incredible but I would have rather had Alice end up with Jack than Peter.Mea, Ezra, Bobby, Milo and Olivia are not forgotten in this fourth book, thank god, and we find out what happens to their lives as well-they don't stay stagnant while Alice, Peter and Jack carry on their weird love triangle. Despite continuing from the third book new story lines are added in which feel fresh but don't stick out. The continued (spoiler!!) separation of Mea and Ezra is constant through out the book yet new occurrences with Daisy bring the couple back to the same house which adds to the tension as everyone is now living in the same area. As well as Alice dealing with her own problem's, as I stated earlier, the story line is very different from the previous three books which the readers will either love or loathe (I loved) and becomes a murder mystery tangled up in a love story. Moreover, unlike the first book Alice is able to take care of herself and even others for the first time which makes the reader really root for her.To conclude, I thoroughly recommend this book IF you have read the others (don't make that mistake) but be prepared to feel very angry at the author at some points in the book as well as some of the characters. A well written exciting story that continues the lives of your favourite characters I pray that Hocking does a fifth simply out of love for the characters.

I want more
Well, that's all of them now. I've read them all and they are so good. As someone said before me, the story is left open, and there can be more stories. I would also like to see Peter find true love, and that could be a story on it's own. So please write some more. I am on Peters story at the moment, and we know what happens to his first love. So we must have a happy ending for him. I shall await eagerly for their return. Any one who likes a bit of bite to the story then you will love these 4 books. Happy reading.

Great read!
I wasn't sure about the series when I read the first book but I'm glad that I persevered. The books were fast paced and emotive. Vampires (including feral ones) family & relationships, bloodwhores, (mild) sex scenes, decapitations, stakes~to~the heart, chases & kidnapping, senseless murder & mercy killing ~ this has proved to be another great series by Amanda Hocking (I really enjoyed her Trylle series too) and I'm hoping that she writes book 5 soon! These Kindle books only cost me £1.49 each and they were great fun! I would definitely buy anything I saw written by Amanda Hocking as I've found that I do enjoy her style of writing.
