Like the Icy Hot cream roll-on that has the same 16% menthol and 11% camphor, this balm also works within 10 minutes or so, but unlike the cream, you don't have as much of a chance of putting too much on and getting a chemical burn (I cut the cream ½ and ½ with a lidocaine cream and it works well, but putting too much of the Icy Hot Advanced cream *without* cutting it with something else that doesn't burn can lead to redness and burning.) You don't have to be worried about this Icy Hot Pro balm/sphere, because you can't put too much on. It *does* work, and works as quickly as pretty much anything else on the market - actually faster than many things like menthol alone, menthol and lidocaine, and/or capsaicin products (chili pepper oil creame.) If you put another layer on before it kicks in, you still will not get burned. This allows you to use the balm as a large roller so you can massage your muscles, pushing the medicine in your skin and also loosen up the tension. Only improvement I can see is that the ring to put your fingers through could be larger - possibly with two holes to be able to use one or two fingers to hold the ball. My hands are not small, but they aren't huge either. My size 9 fingers are too tight to out three fingers in the handle, which would make the handle easier to maneuver. With only two fingers in the handle, the handle is a little loose. Maybe the handle could be larger, with one side being big enough for two fingers and the other side being only for one finger. This would allow for one finger, two fingers, or three fingers (two on one side and one on the other side at the same time) to control the gliding action. If you enlarge the handle, I suppose the whole globe would be larger - maybe it could be a 2 ounce large size (keeping this 1.25 ounce size as well.) I'd buy both! This would work well as a push-up small round deodorant stick type balm too (if Icy Hot is listening!) A long and slender glide on balm would allow for a little more reach, to hit places on my back that I cannot reach with this size. Still, after 20+ years of horrific pain with rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, constantly shifting creams, ointments, and liquid roll-ons, this is AMAZING!
