Ditac Orvis Encounter 5-Weight 8'6" Fly Rod Outfit (5wt, 8'6", 4pc)

I am newish to the sport of Fly Fishing and this Rod was the perfect fit for my first one. The leader it comes with is nothing special, but the fly line, reel, and rod are all solid pieces of equipment. I've used it now 3 times and it continues to feel better in my hands (or maybe I am just getting better... lol)I recommended this to 2 of my friends and now we are all on our way to becoming professional anglers. I should get a discount at Orvis or something for bringing them some customers!The price was well worth it for the experiences and quality of the equipment. And I have only just begun to use it. Can't wait to get back out there this weekend and hook some trout.

Loved the case it came in, first off all. The reel is wonderful.At this price point, it was amazing to grab a starter rod from a brand I knew. Has not disappointed. Would recommend as a starter rod, back up rod, or for anyone really. It is a bit stiffer than I was expecting but I got used to it quick!

Bought this combo for a beginner. For the price you won't do much better. Rod, reel, AND line for under $200 and a trusted name. Rod and reel are well balanced and the cast is very smooth. Does not carry the Orvis 25 year guarantee like their pricier rods, but still is a great setup for a beginner or a decent backup rod for an emergency. Reel is nice.

I got it as a gift for my daughter. She loves that she can take it hiking with her and have a good outfit to use when she gets where she’s going. It made a great gift.

Haven’t used yet but looks to be in great shape after shipping. What impressed me is that I ordered in December 29 and was told I’d have it by mid-January. It’s arrived less than 24 hours later!

TLDR: Rod broke on first use after possible damage from shipping. Reel still worked great and no real complaints otherwise.The reel seems to work great. I'd still recommend this kit seeing the success of others. Got this for my dads 60th birthday and fishing trip. The top piece of the rod seems to have some sort of minor damage from shipping. On the first use the top piece gave in and broke during his trip.Luckily he had some other rods with him and still got use out of most of his gift.

Used it drift boat fishing. Cast well and had good action. Very good value for the money.
