Celtic Warrior: The Legend of CΓΊ Chulainn

A great retelling of one of Ireland's best myths
Cuchulainn was a hero of mine when I was a kid. I was lucky enough to grow up in his stamping grounds - I went to school in Dundalk, which was Dun Dealga in ancient times - the fort of Dealga, and where Cuchulainn spent part of his youth. Ardee, or Baile Fhir Dhia, the town of Ferdia, and where the two friends fought their duel, was only 8 miles from my village. I loved the Tain, the story of the cattle raids on Cooley and the war between Queen Maeve and the rest of Ireland.I hadn't ever read a graphic version of the tale, so when my cousin mentioned it to me, I snapped it up. It's all that a graphic novel of a great hero should be - visceral, well-drawn and grippingly told.As soon as my son - Ferdia - is old enough, I'll be reading this to him. If the author ever wants to think about turning my novels into graphic works, I'm all ears!Recommended.Ben Kane, author of Hannibal: Enemy of Rome and Fields of Blood.

They lost me at the Gap of Dunloe
I just finished this book and I have to say I'm not of fan. I'm not a fan of the poor attempt at story telling, the illustrations or the complete bastardisation of one of Ireland's oldest stories. I don't usually write reviews but I felt I had to for this book. As a fan of the source myth and as a fan of comic books I felt that the writer could have produced a much better comic by sticking more closely to the original. As someone who has read a few translations of the original I think a book closer to the original has the potential to be a mindblowing comic. Props for putting it together and getting it published but I think this book is a cash in on culture aimed at tourists

great drawing, exciting story based on actual myth
I bought the book to say thank you to to the author Will for setting up drawing lessons for kids online during the virus. I have never bought a comic book before but I was very surprised by the quality of the work and the great story. Watch him at work on you tube or RTE he is a great guy and a true inspiration.

A milestone in Irish graphic novels
Maybe listening to Thin Lizzy;s Black Rose album put me in a good mood, but having bought this book for my 13 year old 'Plastic' son, I devoured this myself. The artwork is excellent, but the storytelling is even better. Highly recommended for anyone interested in a straightforward telling of the most significant of the Irish legends. Will's facebook page is also recommended, especially if like me you want to see this made into a movie.

Not sure
I'm not sure what I was expecting with the comic-strip style of presenting the legend of Cu Chulainn, but I found this a little disappointing. The kids liked it, though, and it did spark an interest in Celtic legends.

Fantastic way to boot the stories into a wider audience.
I was excited enough about this project that I considered the international shipping charges (to the USA) worth it, just get a copy early. The artwork is superb and the writing was exhilarating. It, in all ways, met or exceeded my expectations for the story. I couldn't be happier.
