I actually enjoy reading this to my kids...a LOT!
So this book...is billed for 8+, but I read it to my 4.5y and 6.5y. THEY LOVE IT!The humor in this book is snarky, but not mean-snarky...its quick-whitted and the drawings are simple, yet hillarious. The story is written from the point of view of Morgan Henry, a boy who finds a new bestie in the woods in an unexpected way. I like that the other character, Lewis, is different than Morgan, and yet they seem to click well together. Too often, it seems that kids find friends based on mirroring themselves, and I like that these imperfect kids learn to appreciate the 'isms' of each other.I've read the first book, and they were anxious to get the second one rolling. We have started it, and are about 20 pages in-- loving it as well. What I also like is that the 'drama' is not super scary--- that's one reason I'm not a fan of most Disney shows...why does someone have to suffer incredible loss to build character-?? In this book, the 'scary' moments don't make my kids tense, and are somewhat gentle.I'm truly impressed with the author's abilty to both make this interesting, a new plot twist around each corner, and not terrifying for little ones. Awesome book!

"I like this book
This is from my 9 year old, Owen, who actually read the book. "I like this book. It is amusing and clever. I always wondered what would happen next, And any book that starts with someone being hung up by their underpants is funny to me. I am pretty sure my friends at school would like this book as much as I did. I am excited to read the next book about Sasquatch and Aliens next spring."

A fun summer read
My son is currently enjoying this book. He says it's funny and he's curious what will happen next. He is 11 and this book is an easy read for him, but hey, it's summer vacation! I glanced into it and can see why he likes it; the writing style is witty, with cartoonish pictures scattered throughout.
