The Picnic Sessions is an uncut diamond, the perfect expression of what happens when five talented musicians with a love of Blues & roots Americana get together and play and sing, with no pre-determined idea of the outcome. You can hear the relaxed enjoyment and spontaneity as they swap instrumental roles, add harmonies and contribute ideas. It's a 'back porch' session without the porch! This cd follows Siegal's much lauded 'Man And Guitar,' a BBC recording of his solo performance at the Royal Albert Hall as part of Live Nation's London Bluesfest. Both cds confirm Siegal's position as the finest blues voice the UK has produced since the iconic names of the sixties British Blues boom.

ENJOY THE PICNIC WITH THESE BLUES MASTERS !
Every one of those I've met recently are raving about this album. A group of bluesmen sitting in a circle, chatting and playing some pretty fine music. It feels like you've dropped in on a private party, but the music is totally welcoming, Ian Siegal surely the finest blues man the UK has ever produced, and this set recorded in the USA, ammounts to a real cherry on the cake. Alongside Ian we have Alvin Youngblood Hart,Cody Dickinson,Luther Dickenson and Ian;s recent touring partner Jimbo Mathus in North Mississippi's Zebra Studios just outside Oxford. After a festival everyone had a free day so this album was recorded. It's raw, but it's as good as the blues gets, lots of different instruments and ideas but most of all a superb set that any blues lover will play again and again, no wonder those I meet like myself love this amazing set.Sixteen tracks, add a bit of banter and a slew of great some. A must get release !
