a must for the quirky discerning Hibs fan
Love this little book. Hibs are a club that attract a quirky following, the sort of real fan who talks trivia in pubs and is not remotely concerned with the glory hunting of the old firm or the somewhat sanitised football of the English premiership. This book is full of these delicious wee factoids which comfort and amuse the fans as we nurse our pints in the bars round Leith or play a kind of Hibs trumps on the long bus journeys to places like Dumfries, Kirkaldy, Greenock... and other unfashionable football towns in Scotland. In this book there are neat little bite sized accounts of everything from drawing 2-2 (home) then 3-3 (away) then losing a one off tie 6- 0 at a 'neutral venue' (Rome) with Roma then when the great Joe Baker played for us, to defeat by Armadale in a cup game in 1920. There are also accounts of great wins against the odds with the likes of Celtic and Rangers. Tracing the club from its beginning and being unafraid of accounting for the bad players and managers as well as the good, sets this apart from most fan books, Colquhoun and Sinnet have come up with a well researched we gem with something in it for every fan.
