Scrabble Scoring Markers & Racks Board Game

This simple and handy design behind these little score markers will replace the use of a pen and paper to keep the score. It is not tacky or complicated in any way and it's of good value. Not only that, it also gives the game a little "pzazz", shall we say?I feared the scores might be too hard to read from most aspects judging by the look. It turns out I underestimated the design as the face-up display means they can both be read from just about anywhere within the playing space, so that you can also see your opponent's score (if your orientation is okay or better) as well. Just simply slide the dials up or down to adjust the score. You will need a bit of mental arithmetic (essential to everyone, of course), as you may, by a very slight chance, inadvertently miscalculate your score and/or forget your previous score after a move (I study Maths, I don't use a calculator for mental arithmetic).The pack also comes with two spare racks, which are designed to slip into the scoring markers if you'd like to see the score in front of you. My opponent and I found this handy and problem-free but you can always keep them separate if you prefer, which is very thoughtful of Tinderbox Games (better than Mattel! Some of their products are cheap, especially the Travel and Deluxe editions of the game!). As they're designed to sit on a flat surface, there's no need to firmly lock them in. Just a nice slip-in will do, really. The tiles from the original SCRABBLE sets fit in the racks nicely and are of a nice, slick material. It would be nice if the front ends were a couple of inches longer or so, or if the angle was titled a few degrees, as the tiles can fall off if they're uncarefully knocked off from the top, but at least they sit on the rack nicely enough and they make good use of spare racks in case any are missing.It would also be even better if the numbers were of a larger print for the benefit of the particularly poorly sighted, but with good-enough eyesight my family and I can see them just fine. We're very impressed and like the simple design and look. The highest score ever recorded in any game of SCRABBLE is over 1000 but everyone, even the world's greatest, is far too unlikely to get a four-digit score so 3 digits is fine. Recommended!
