Ainslie's Complete Guide to Thoroughbred Racing
S**R
Everything You Want ands Need to Know
Probably the best and easiest to understand book on handicapping thoroughbreds ever written. It's a bit out of date but the information and suggestions on "how to" and what it's all about are timeless as long as there's horse racing. You're sure to pick out huge bits and pieces of things you forgot or never knew. Highly recommended for those who like thoroghbred racing and would like to win more often than you currently are.I originally bought this book many years ago when I first started following the ponies. It turned me into s pretty good handicapper. Then after being away from racing for many years, I couldn't find my old copy that was going to use as a refresher.I was glad to find it still in print. Horse racing itself doesn't change, but the information is sometimes too much overload and you need to go back to the basics. This will help re-inforce your good skills and get rid of your over-thinking everything.

super detailed, yet outdated
This book will blow you away with the angles he comes up with. Stuff i never even though of. The real "problem", if you want to call it that, is he is a hardcore handicapper, using a VERY WIDE base of knowledge for all of his ideas---but this was all written pre-internet/computer revolution. So, I would say that it was too much information for me to utilize, but it really opened my eyes to the professional world of handicapping. This book is NOT for the casual/weekend horse player. But, then again it was a cheap read.

Horse players nostalgia but still somewhat relevant
Accidentally bought this edition of a book I already have a newer one... Wish they would not change cover design. Nice gift for someone else, fast ship, good luck!

A Must Book for Fans and Handicappers
I've been a lover of thoroughbred racing for many, many years. Although written and updated years ago, and therefore some trainer, horse, sire, owner, track names require edit, there is not a page of the book without important jewels of information about the horseracing industry, the horse, and every facet of betting. I reread it over and over to improve my handicapping skills. No beginning fan or better should be without it!

Fantastic Book to begin on and refernce often
This is a great book to begin a handicapping and love for horse racing with. A lot of the information is outdated or even not applicable anymore. But knowing where it all started from and where the sport of Kings is today is invaluable for a complete understanding of the sport. Without knowing the history or the ways of the past it is difficult to understand where we are today. I highly recommend this book to anybody that wants to havea complete knowledge and education of horse racing.

satisfied customer
I had read the first edition many years ago and the third and final print is also well written and informative. Helpful to beginners who are not just gamblers but want to identify horses that have a real chance to run well and lay off races with too many contenders. A little bit much for the casual player or one who doesn't want to study past performances in depth, but also an interesting read that will help one famiiarize with the racing scene.

#1 Book for would-be Cappers
Book breaks it all down, and gives you enough info to chew on for months and years. A resource you can always go back to and get an answer that makes sense
