First let me say that I purchased this without any seller refund for a review. I am a real customer, and by the way, top reviewer in the cooking category. OK, on to the review.I needed to shred things without spending a fortune on a full featured food processor. We eat vegetarian and often grate carrots, cabbage, cheese, and potatoes. I selected this one to purchase because of the large square base, and because it was white and black and fit my kitchen decor. Lame reasons, but I had to pick something out of the many for sale.Finding a surface that would grip the base was a challenge. I have tile in the kitchen, so I secured this to the dining room table. A bit of water on the bottom, and not even one of our California earthquakes will dislodge it. If you have granite, I'm sure that will work real good. The plastic cone holder slips on and off by pushing down on the black tear drop thing on the front. Snap it in. The cone of choice goes inside the holder and snaps onto the handle. Nice loud snaps by the way, so you know things are attached properly.I tried the grater with the little holes first. This easily ground up almonds, oats, and old garlic toast into powder. The hard cheese I tried (parmesan-romano) was grated perfectly.I tried the slicer next. This cone did a good job slicing onions, carrots, cukes, potatoes and cabbage, but be aware that the slices are very thin. Good for salads, cole slaw, and some stir fry.Lastly, I put in the shredder cone with the large holes. Cabbage and onions turned to mush, but carrots were perfect, and soft cheeses placed in the freezer for 10 minutes shredded perfectly, as did the potatoes (for hash browns, soup, and latkes). Yams did good too. Celery, don't even try it. Wouldn't slice or shred.So over all this does have limitations, but for what I need it for, it was a success. This takes up very little room, and gets the job done. All these rotaries may not be the same, I can't tell. All I can say is that this particular one has sharp blades, and works nicely. The media could not be loaded.  I've got this hand activated grater from amazon, the device is light and compact, easy to assemble. I like that there's no need for power to make it work, I tried it on different veggies and cheese and results were from good to annoyingly bad . It works nice on cucumber, and swiss cheese, but cabbage and tomatoes were bad experience. Also there are deficiencies-- the suction works only on countertops that absolutely polished , but if your kitchen does not have perfect polished surface then it gets hard to work with. As you turn the handle you have to manage to not move it from the spot. Next- as your veggie is being grated part of it gets between turning cone and body of grater, so part of work you end up doing again manually if you are like me and don't like throw away food . I'm yet to try it on nuts, as it advertised on its name.Also the plastic the grater is made of looks like it is not going last for long with continuous use.So as conclusion - it is a very good idea for home kitchen helper, but that idea needs to be improved into more solid and sturdy device. I would not recommend this product for serious continuous daily kitchen work.

I purchased this chopper/grinder to replace my old nut chopper which broke. The day it arrived I was preparing to freeze-dry some hot peppers from my garden. Since chopping them by hand results in my skin becoming saturated with capsaicin with the result that everything I touch for the next two days gets "peppered," I decided to try chopping them with the new device. It worked magnificently! Not only did it chop the peppers perfectly, it was far faster than doing them by hand. Clean up was a breeze -- breaking the machine down involves two steps that take seconds. The suction bottom held the chopper/grinder in place, solid as a rock. Just make sure that the counter top you are placing it on is clean and free of dust and debris. Wipe the base of the chopper and the counter with a moist cloth, flip the lever, and the machine will remain locked where it is without moving a millimeter.

Easy to assemble, use, and disassemble. I grated carrots. They were crunchy so I had to use a little muscle but it worked. So much better than the box grater. My thumb is still growing back skin from the last time I used that monster, which is in the trash now. My only negative is there is a gap between the grater blade and the housing so some of the carrots wound up stuck behind the blade instead of going through the blade. No big deal. It wasn't much and it was easy to clean it out.

This is a very good kitchen product. I am very impressed with the way it slices and grades, I prefer this over a box grader. The only reason I gave it a 4 star over a 5 is that the suction to hold the device to the counter isn't all that great, the surface that you use this on has to be completely flat or it will not hold. Aside from that, I love it. I will buy this again to give as a gift.

I ordered this for a pizza party knowing we would need a lot of cheese and I don’t like the pre-shredded stuff. This went through 4 blocks in maybe 2 minutes. Execellent value for the price. My only gripe is the suction can come loose but as long as you reset it it will stick again.. Not a big issue but could work better

I really like this product. Easy to use and easy to clean. Had to use cookie sheet to suction as it would not suction to chopping board or tile counter. MY concern is that it will not last a great deal of time. Handle connection a bit precarious and flimsy! But . . . considering the price point what more could I expect!

Love it for grating cheese. It dispenses the cheese into a bowl without making a mess, unlike hand held units. It does not slice potatoes well though. Hope the plastic holds up. Wish this unit was all metal.
