Instead the band holds a metal conductor against your skin, this can be uncomfortable and even cause burns if used without electrode gel. Review: NO COMPLAINTS - I'm not new to Tens/Estim. Expecting a poor product from some of the reviews of this inexpensive accessory, I am completely happy with the performance. The metal tab is NOT supposed to carry all the current. The elastic band does much if not most of the contact. It's easy. Apply conductive gel to entire area of skin to be covered by the band, position the bands to this area and soak the band with water (squirt bottle) completely (so the metal will not be the only conductor), and turn on the Tens starting on low and gradually increase until it hurts and back off until you get the stim you can tolerate comfortably. From time to time as the water on the bands start to dry add a little water to the bands to renew the contact. So it's not like a patch you stick on and forget.
