I've had this book for several years.Mr. Vandal provides very clear and carefully prepared instructions for some exceptional reproductions. His pieces are probably the nicest of all the Queen Anne ones that you can find in books or in plans.His ideas on finishes for the pieces is also first rate.There is a very interesting and extremely well written history and background on Queen Anne furniture and the origins of the style at the beginning of the book.Wondeful book!Updated April 2015: My first copy of this book ended up getting lost. That book had literally flown around the world with me on a few occasions. The binding was still in excellent condition. I've replaced the book and still think it's the best book on making Queen Anne style furniture. You can't beat the clear, concise instructions that Mr. Vandal wrote. While I haven't built every piece in the book. His writing style is so clear that I would feel very comfortable attempting any of the furniture including the larger case pieces.

Recognizing that Queen Anne furniture is one of the timeless and most beautiful designs, I realized, on starting my first project, that I hadn't the foggiest idea of the history, the elements, or the construction techniques of Queen Anne furniture. This book has it all. The sections on history and the making of the cabriole legs in themselves make this book a "must have," both for the collector and for the cabinetmaker. To top it off, there are scaled plans for several projects, and some time-saving techiques for construction. If you get only one book on Queen Anne furniture, this is the one.

Amazing book with plans, loads of information and great presentation. Must have for anyone who like the furniture from this period. Can't go wrong on this purchase.
