Awesome! Easy to inflate, durable and bouncy!
The media could not be loaded. So, I had asked my daughter's grandparents to get her Rody for Xmas and they got her the Waddle Unicorn. That thing is terrible. It's hard as a rock. I'm 150lbs and can sit on it and it doesn't deflate and I can't even get it to bounce. Probably because it's made of plastic and not rubber. I think they got it bc it was $30 cheaper and was a total waste of money (it reminds me of Charlie the Unicorn heading to Candy Mountain) as it just sits in the corner of my daughter's room..all alone.. I feel bad for Charlie. Now! Finally! She got Rody for her birthday from her Godmother and she's not home yet but I can tell a huge difference. First, super easy to inflate. We had the pump from poor old Waddle Charlie. Rubber is super durable and smooth. I've been dropping Rody over and over to see if he bounces and he sure does! I can't wait for her to come home and see him! Sorry, Charlie!

Rody is my baby's best friend!!
Rody is the perfect first birthday gift!! Please don't let the age 3+ label scare you off, it's there because the company is afraid that the plastic plug that seals the air in might in some way come loose and pose a choking hazard. But the thing is- as an adult I struggle to remove it and I know my kid doesn't have the fine motor skills to pull it out. Anyway, on to the good stuff!! Rody is fun and bouncy, he's great for challenging baby's balance and working on core strength (which is what baby need to explore independent mobility and eventually start walking!!). Rody is easy to wipe clean, cute and my kiddo loves rolling around on the floor, bouncing and climbing on him. Rody can handle a lot of weight and rough play too, a major plus with a busy babe.

Several years later, family still happy with this purchase
Such fun! Get the biggest one, though. We started with the regular rody and returned in favor of the rody max. Even for my very tiny guys the bigger one was better. Great material, nice that it stores compactly when not in use, made sweatshop-free is my presumption. Lots of fun indoors or out. We have had rody-os, jousting contests, races, and just plain bounced around. Plus they are cute, colorful, friendly-looking creatures.

Great fun for toddler- expect occasional tumble.
We have the Imaginarium Bouncy Horse at my in-laws' house and it is pretty comparable to the Rody Hopping Horse, only at 1/3 the cost. The main difference is that Imaginarium just comes in red, while Rody comes in a variety of colors. At first I thought maybe the more expensive Rody would be better than the Imaginarium because my 2 year old daughter would often fall forward if she leaned on the back of the Imaginarium Horse's head ... except the same thing happened on the Rody Horse. We also had a funny issue with how much air to fill the horses with. too little air and the legs collapse a bit, especially in the front = more toddler falling forward. Much more air solves some of the leg issues, but then the horses become quite rotund and my toddler has an interesting time getting her legs around the horse's big belly. So with all of this, why did I still give 4 stars?? Because my 2 year old LOVES both horses. I love the color of the Rody and I guess I don't really mind paying much more to get the original bouncy horse design and the option of the fun colors vs the Imaginarium's one color (red). My daughter drags the horse all over the house and bounces like crazy. She has a million toys, ride-ons, and other gizmos ... but she continuously comes back to this horse. She laughs the whole time she's bouncing. As for the falling forward, she has mostly learned to avoid leaning on the head, and when she does fall forward she puts her hands out and avoids hurting herself on the hardwood floors. I feel like the horse has actually made her a little tougher ;D She just jumps right back onto the horse- a great life lesson. Thanks Rody!Fun fact: the air pump hole is on Rody's butt, just below the tail. Ha. Imaginarium put the hole for their horse on the belly.

Adorable and Durable!!!
I saw my friends' 2 yr. old boy having a blast on one of these, so I bought one for my 22 mos. old. She is a very cautious child and doesn't want to get on it quite yet; I know she'll love it when she gets a little older :)One thing I didn't realize until receiveing the product is that the size is adjustable! For a smaller child you simply inflate it less, for a larger child inflate it more! How great is that??? Also, the weight limit goes up to 400lbs (I kid you not!) This is strong, latex-free, recyclable plastic! It does say this has been safety tested for 3 yrs. and up, however, with adult supervision its a great toy for 18 mos+, especially very active kids (hello boys!)

Much-loved toy!
We bought a Rody for my 3-year-old's birthday after seeing her play with one time after time in the toy store. She adores it, as does her 5-year-old sister. The 5-year-old is definitely too big to really use it (although she tries--and has fallen off once or twice), and I think it's probably better for a 1 1/2 to 2-year-old if you want your investment to really last. All the same, my 5-year-old is begging me for one, too. The girls like to "feed" it and build it "cages" in addition to riding it. And it doesn't seem to have lost much air since we pumped it up a few months ago. Great toy!

Fun but made of uneven rubber
Our 2-year-old loves this toy, and we love it because it burns up some energy. She genuinely has fun on it. The unfortunate problem is the evenness of the rubber; after a few months, our Rody developed a small boil on his right butt-cheek, which got bigger and bigger over time. Now it's enormous, making poor Rody all lop-sided and unstable when the kid is on it. The rubber was obviously thinner on the right butt and tail. What a shame. Funnily enough, an acquaintance has a fake, made-in-China Rody with thicker rubber that's more evenly spread; no boil has developed, and we're now in the strange position of looking for a Chinese fake for our daughter because she misses her Rody. It could have been just our toy with the defect, we don't know.
