VALE Prima Violin Bow with Light Weight Bow Case (Full Size)

VALE Brazil wood Violin Bow- Purchased from String Sky. Very fast handling and shipping. I am no expert, but it produces an upgrade in sound from the bow that came with my $350 violin kit. Appears to be well crafted. Horsehair is all flat and tightly inline unlike my other one. Gave a nice clear tone on my violin. Have never tried an expensive bow, but as far as an inexpensive one goes, it is a pleasant surprise.

This is my first time buying a violin bow, and I took a gamble with this one, because I like to read reviews first before I buy something. I'm not good with the violin yet, so I don't know the technical side to it, but this bow feels great in the hand and holds the rosin very well. I'm definitely happy with my purchase.

Nice bow for the price. While it doesn’t sound as nice as the $500 bow we have (meaning the sound is thinner and not as warm), this bow was also only $30 and not $500. I didn’t get to try it out against other bows under $100, however, so I don’t know how it compares with others in this price range. It handles just fine and should work for a casual or beginning student, especially if your instrument only costs a few hundred or less.Remember new horsehair it is slippery without any rosin, so rosin this well when you get it. This bow is also cheaper than the cost of getting a bow rehaired, for what it’s worth.

For the price, I am satisfied. A bit of background about me: I am far from being a professional, but I played a lot when I was younger and was a music major for a few semesters in college. I recently joined a community orchestra for fun and didn't want to go through the hassle of getting my old bow repaired. The balance on this bow is not great, but it is a $30 bow. It's somewhat bottom heavy and heavy overall. I would not recommend this bow for youngsters because of its weight. For older teenagers and adults who need a backup or aren't doing anything too serious, this will work.

Disclaimer: I am a beginner violinist and have only had previous experience with a student-quality bow, but this seems to be a good product for the price. When it arrived, the "light weight bow case" was dented in, although that's more likely due to how the package was handled than the dealer. The bow itself arrived in good shape and looks almost exactly like the photo.I did not lose any hairs while setting up the bow, applying rosin, playing, etc. The only hair I lost was when I snagged it on my case i.e. my own clumsiness. For my purposes, it suits me just fine.I'll update this review a few months down the line once the bow has gone through some wear and tear.

Worked just fine for two days, then this happened while I was just applying rosin. I'm a beginner, but I know it wasn't overtightened and I definitely don't play rough! Very disappointed.

I also purchased the D Z Strad 200 violin bow pernambuco but this one has a better feel for me and prefer playing with it.

Bought this bow for my granddaughter, who is just learning violin. She and her instructor said it was a great bow for a student.
