Weihang Tablet Battery 74XCR For Dell Venue 8 Pro (5830) T01D Windows VXGP6 X1M2Y Tablet 074xcr

The original battery that came with my 3.5 year old Dell Venue Pro 8 was manufactured in 10/2013 and was only lasting about 2 hours depending on usage. The Weihang replacement battery was inexpensive enough so I took a chance. It arrived on time and was in perfect condition protected in foam packing material in a small corrugated cardboard box. Included were two plastic tools to remove the tablet back and a small screwdriver to remove the battery mounting screws. This was a very nice touch from the vendor.The battery I received is obviously an original Dell Battery. The Dell Logo has been blacked out with a Sharpie, but you can still see references to the Dell Website on the battery. The new battery indicates it has 4860 mAh, compared to the original's 4960 mAh. There is also a manufacturing date stamp on the battery which indicates that it was made in November 2015. I ordered and received the battery in June 2017 which means that I received a 19 month old battery. That was a bit disappointing as the battery is advertised as new. Even if it had never been used, LIon batteries have a limited shelf life of 2-4 years.The included plastic tools made prying the tablet back very easy and it was done with no discernable damage to the tablet. Swapping the battery out was then a simple task of unplugging the connector and removing 5 small mounting screws and reversing the process with the new battery.I charged the battery and using the Windows battery app, the estimated time remaining on a full charge charge went from 2 hours on the original battery up to about 4 hours with the Weihang replacement battery. That was certainly better than the original battery, but no where near the 8 hours or so that I got when the tablet was new. I was, again, disappointed with the limited improvement. However, I also realized that my tablet is now cluttered with a bunch of stuff that wasn't present when it was new. I then tried to remove some power hungry background processes from the tablet to try to lengthen the life. In particular I removed OneDrive which was consuming a lot of power even when it appeared to be idle. After removing OneDrive, my estimated time at full charge remaining went up to just over 5 hours.Overall, considering how inexpensive this was, I am satisfied, though not thrilled with this battery. It was advertised as new, but even if it was never used, it was still 19 months old when shipped. It doesn't seem to hold as much charge as a truly new battery should and I'm guessing that it's life expectancy is probably only about 1-2 more years before it's acting like my old battery. None of the vendors on Amazon indicate how old their batteries are. Probably the only way to be sure would be to go to a Brick and Mortar store and look at the battery before you buy it.

Fast shipping and I had it installed in less then 15 minutes. Tip: just be easy on removing back. It was charged when I got it and been using it for 4 hours with more then half charge remaining.Tip: Good to drain battery completely first time before the initial charge to strengthen it's charging cycle for next time.

So far so good. The instructions and tools for installing were much appreciated. It gave new life to my Dell tablet, and if it lasts as long as the OEM battery from Dell, I will be a happy camper.

The kit was good. The right tools to replace the battery with and everything fit fine. I can not get the battery/tablet to ever report over 75% of charge.

Battery worked great and repair was fairly easy. Love the included tools. For this price, I don't expect it to be a brand new recently manufactured battery.
