Excellent guide.
True Lonely Planet guide at its best. The format is hard to beat, with everything you could need and so easy to follow. You still feel like the writers are actually taking to you, which is great.Really comprehensive for a trip around Ireland, so you could manage with just this one book.

A great travel companion.
I do like a Lonely Planet guide but this is a particularly good one. The Author is very matter of fact and there isn't the same level of left wing propoganda or fluffy everywhere is amazing as you find in some Lonely Planet guides. I've found it really useful on our road trip around Ireland so far.

Excellent guide
A regular visitor to Ireland for over50 years, I bought this guide to keep me up to date. My last visit was in 2012 and I needed phone numbers current bus and train fares. This guide is the best guide to Ireland i've ever had in my hands. If the town plans had a few more named streets I would have added a 5th star. I take this opportunity to say how disappointed I was with the French version (, I am bilingual). Half the number of pages, too much space taken by photos and not much information and not a word on at least half the counties of Ireland.

The Lonely Planet Guide gave us great advice on where to visit and where to eat
We had never been to Ireland before. The Lonely Planet Guide gave us great advice on where to visit and where to eat. All the recommendations were very good. We're looking forward to our next trip equipped with guide.

Great guide to Ireland - we used for our first time there and this gave us lots of ideas of where to go, where to avoid and what to see.

Some gaps here. No mention of Limerick.
Mostly quite a good guide but very focussed on Dublin. We were stunned that there was nothing at all on Limerick - a historic city with an amazing castle and a long history.

Perfect highlights guidebook!
This "highlights" guidebook was exactly what we needed. We were going to be in Ireland from weekend to weekend, with a rental car, and wanted to see as much as we could along our circular route. This was the perfect resource in order for us to plan and exciting - and logical - itinerary on the go. We hit many of the must-sees and came back satisfied with the way we used our time. In the age of online travel planning it was the ideal companion guidebook to make the most of our vacation - and no wifi required! Highly recommended.
