The color is accurate to the picture in my experience. Imagine a light cotton sweater material and that's exactly what this is. You wouldn't use it in an alpine snowstorm to keep from getting frostbite, but if your house/apartment tends to get just slightly chilly at times and you like the idea of having something light to cover up with, this is perfect. Personally, I love the breathability and stretchiness of the cotton material. If you're looking for something seriously warm to bundle in at your mountain cabin, then look towards fleece or some thicker, warmer material.
