Excellent quality (coloured!) paper
The paper quality is absolutely superb, yet had I know the pages are a bright yellow I would have likely opted for a different notebook. Tends to give my blue ink a bit of a green tinge.

Stands out from the crowd
This is something a little different to the standard notepads out there, which means it perhaps stands out from the crowd.Made by Rhodia this is a pad of 70 sheets of lined paper, size 14.8 x 21 cm / 5.8 x 8.3 in. The Rhodia company colours are orange and black and this is reflected in the design of this pad (which according to the top spine is no. 16 in their range). The front and back covers feature a vintage-style design with solid black diamonds outlined by dappled orange and light brown parallelograms. There are staples at the top of the front cover too, again evoking vintage. The inside sheets are tinted orange with orange lines. The pages easily rip out from the top as they have a perforated edge. The thickness is 90gsm which feels thick enough for me.The front cover has been scored slightly so that it can fold back, and the inner back cover is hard cardboard making it easier to write in the pad as there is something hard to lean on.There aren't many modern features like, for example, a spiral spine and that is what makes this a little different. You'd definitely want to be writing or receiving your love letters on these sheets of paper rather than a more sterile, white, pre-margined, hole-punched A4 sheet that you commonly find in notepads these days.

Take Note!
I have a ridiculous collection of notebooks, but am always on the lookout for ones with good enough quality paper to use with a fountain pen, my preferred writing tool. Sadly, not many do. But, thankfully, this Rhodia Heritage A5 notebook works beautifully with a variety of ink pens, including rollerballs. The paper is of a really high quality and takes the ink well without bleed-through, meaning you can use both sides of the paper with no loss in clarity. Ink dries quite quickly on the paper as well, meaning I’ve not suffered much in the way of smudging yet, either (always a bonus). The only downside, and it is a very minor one, is that the notebook doesn’t look like much – a very simple card cover front and back, with a diamond design in orange and black. However, even that simplicity hides attention to detail: the front cover is lightly scored in two places at the stapled top edge to permit you to fold it neatly behind the notebook. Each page is also discreetly perforated to allow easy removal.A good quality notebook, even though it hides its light under a very basic exterior.

Quality Notebook
This head-stapled notebook from Rhodia is really rather nice - the paper is good quality and you can easily write on both sides of the paper - it's thick enough to take it. One gripe is that if you flip the paper over at the top to write on the reverse side, it's difficult if you want to press onto the rest of the pad, because it flips over the stapled top section, so you can only start writing part way down the page.It is a little pricier than other similar items, but for your money you do get a better quality writing surface - the choice is yours.

Good quality
This is a nice quality note pad. The paper is a pleasant orangey colour, which both looks nice and should reduce glare for those sensitive to such things. After the first sheet it is pretty easy to tear off each sheet cleanly, so you can write a letter or note to yourself and then tear it off. One other thing I liked was even if you pressed hard when writing it didn't make much of an indent on the page beneath.I was disappointed that it was lined as this seemed to make it seem less refined than I was expecting, and it can't be used for some artistic purposes.

Very useful (especially for lists)
I'm about half way through this pad now. I use it for lists and I particularly like the fact that it stays flat when I write on it with the cover folding right back. Each sheet tears off a little before the top and is easy to detach - no tears around the perforations. You can't really keep the page on the pad when you've written on it and expect to write on the page below because, unlike the cover, it doesn't fold back at all well which makes it ideal for lists but not notes.I haven't had bleed through on the paper when using roller ball or gel pens. It seems thick enough and the lines are well spaced for me - I have generous handwriting. I do use this all the time

Nice deesign , good quality paper but I would query value for money
Small pad with an Escher design on the outside. Paper is quite creamy and using a Waterman fountain pen it does write smoothly on the pageI think it is higher quality that I usually use , there is no smudging of the ink on the paper like you sometimes get but I think it would benefit from some tabs on the side for subdividing up the pad, I think I would buy a A4 version if it had that for work notes

Wonderfully tactile A5 notebook
Rhodia Heritage Head Stapled Notepad, A5, Lined - Black EscherThere's something special about writing in a beautiful notebook. It can somehow elevate what might otherwise be mundane thoughts or inspire interesting jottings when one might otherwise be blocked. This is a beautiful premium quality notebook that is a joy to use. It would make a lovely gift - either for someone else or yourself. The cover has an attractive geometric design front and back and a lovely, textured soft feel. The back cover is lined with 300gms cardboard to add stiffness. Inside, the pages are of beautifully tactile quality paper (90g brushed vellum paper from French stationery specialist Clairefontaine which began making paper in 1858) in pale cream with pale orange lines. The pages are held in place by two staples across the top and have a line of minute performations across the top for easy detaching. For sale at the time of writing this review at £6.40.
