Does not fit a 530 chain.
Does not fit a 530 chain. I had an RK Max X 530 chain and surprise surprise it does not fit. Overall construction is actually pretty impressive, but it doesn't do any good if it doesn't fit my chain. I will be able to modify it to work, but I shouldn't have to modify something that is marketed as compatible out of the box. If it was about a 12th of an inch wider it would be fine. If you have a 525 or less, I would say this is definitely your go-to. If you have an angle grinder and a 530, then go nuts. Like I said, the overall craftsmanship is actually pretty impressive.

Clarity on use is vague. Only for clip type masterlinks.
Bought this to break a chain on a F800GS and replace the chain. I'm glad I read the other reviews that said this was not capable of riveting masterlinks. Not only is it not, but also not pressing out rivet style links. Ground the heads off a link and pressed it out easily, worked great pressing the new clip link on. Small and light enough that this and an extra link with be riding in my tool kit when I tour. TL;DR: description is vague and buries it only works with clip style masterlinks. Works great with them though.
