Since I do not have a septic system at my current address; I have lived in a home that did have a system. We did use OxiClean on occasion and did seem to suffer any adverse problems with the septic system. I used it in the laundry though, never used on carpet. The problem you are having is typical of all carpet stains. I love carpet but keeping it stain-free is basically impossible. Sorry I couldn't help more.
