THIS WAS PERFECT FOR A PERSON WHO LOVES TO GOLF. I HOPE IT HELPS HIM FIND ALL THE GOLF BALLS HE LOSES AROUND THE YARD.

Who the hell is writing a positive review for this POS?! They must be with the company because this thing is TERRIBLE and I want my money back!!!!It's supposed to buzz when your ball is located but this crap device buzzes at every direction you point it! I did a control experiment and literally walked up to my ball, pointed the scout right at it from ten feet away and nothing! But as soon as I turned, it started buzzing at every direction. Maybe it's picking up the glare of the sun off the grass but what the heck good is it for then?! It's suppose to alert you to the location of your ball not read every glare off a blade off grass!The screen is one inch by one inch and can't display much of anything.. You can't even see the screen when scanning anyway because you have to point the top of the device forward in the direction of your ball... UselessBecause of all the random buzzing and my inability to even view the screen and really "scan" an area, it took me longer to find my ball with this crap device that it does just the old fashion way... Looking!Lastly, I must have looked like a fool walking all over pointing this device, putting my head down and squinting to read the screen...In short, BIG WASTE of money! I'm wondering if they pay to have negative reviews taken down because I really can't imagine anyone rating this any stars unless they work with the scout makers...

Wow, was digging in draw looking for something and found this box. Upon opening it, I realized it was the POS Sanderson Golf Ltd. Scout Ball finder. They sold this crap on Amazon years ago and of course, my loving wife spent $150 on it to surprise me for Christmas back in 2006. I went golfing with it the following day and as I expected, it was a rip off. I did everything the instructions said to do and got the same results every time. At best it was consistently inconsistent. This thing is the biggest gimmick ever sold on Amazon. I emailed Sanderson Gold in the UK as soon as I arrived home. They finally replied to my email with a too bad, no returns after 30 days policy. (Two weeks in transit, ordered early for Christmas present) I thought about reselling it online to the next shmuck, but I like to sleep at night. The only advice I can give is Buyer Beware. Sanderson, you got me once, but you will never get me again. Stick with good ole products made and sold in the US. My wife was very upset when I told her it was a scam. I think she learned her lesson about ordering anything from overseas. Sanderson, shame on you for marketing this crap. I plan on visiting the UK later this year. I may look your address (if you still exist) and come see you in person. I have something for you.

I can understand the other reviewer's point of view. This device really works but only if some small part of the ball is showing and its within range. What it does do that other golf ball finders don't is it adheres to the rules of golf which say you can't modify the ball in order to find it. Like putting a transmitter into the ball. I tried this device with a number of balls and it found them even upto 30 feet away with only a portion of the ball showing. Keep in mind when you use it that you need to be about that far away and some portion of the ball must be visible.

Received as a gift. I gave it every opportunity to work, and even allowed them to send a replacement as opposed to insisting on a refund. That was a mistake. The folks at the company were polite and responsive, but unfortunately there is nothing good I can say about the device itself. Trust the negative reviews on this one.

How does it compare to the Gopher which sells for $20 as a golf ball finder or $50,000 as a bomb finder?

I had one for a few days, but sent it back. Does not do anything and I could not find any of my balls. Piece of junk. Buy the Radar Golf System.
