Works Great. Versatile Outputs.
Works great. Is versatile in that it can export the audio signal four different ways. Needed this as a new TV that I purchased only has an HDMI and HDMI eArc ports on it along with a USB-a port. The TV is smaller size as I'm space constrained as to where it has to be placed hence the lack of ports. But this allows me to feed the small sound bar and an optical run to the stereo system. It's pretty small and not that expensive. Well worth it.

Does what it's supposed to do.
This device is doing just what I needed. Recently, in discussion with the very helpful salesman at Best Buy, I learned that none of the new TVs have analog audio output jacks any more. I use my TV with sound output connected to a stereo this way. I got a new Samsung TV and therefore needed an audio extractor. At first I tried an optical converter but found that the volume and mute controls on the TV remote did not function this way, and I didn't want to use multiple remotes. I purchased this sound extractor, connected an HDMI cable from the eArc output of the TV to the input of this device, and the RCA audio cables from the stereo to the device outputs. The next step was to set up eArc on the TV, which required 2 steps. First I set the sound output to eArc but did not get any sound. There is another setting where I needed to enable eArc. And that's it. I have TV sound from my stereo and control volume and mute with the TV remote.

Works well for audio extraction but note no video output
Works nicely to extract audio from of of my TV's eARC HDMI ports to feed active loudspeakers and allows control of the volume using the TV's volume control. However, it does not pass the video through to the HDMI out port and therefore only 4 stars.

It truely works. It bridges e-arc even to systems as close sourced as Bose lifestyles.
Ok, here is my 2 cents. I have a Bose V35 system and I really enjoy it. I know that out of all the home theater systems Bose is the not an open source and improvements and updates are not available pr rare. It's a damn time capsule, one I payed good money for and unless it dies on me, its staying where it is. With an optical cable to my TV my 5.1 experience was just OK. This seemed like a good affordable gamble on improving my listening experience accessing e-arc. Nothing else seemed possible. To my surprise my center & surround speakers have improved and make my viewing more emmersive. Downside, to now access my V35 console I have to disconnect the box and return to optical mode. I know the Bose limitations and a regular AV perhaps would make it easier. All I wanted was better sound and I got it. I'm not upgrading my system so is is as good as it is going to get.

Not Easy to Use, But Worth it...
It's not really this doohickey's fault that it's hard to use. If Arc and EArc actually worked, you wouldn't need it.I had trouble setting it up, but long story short, it's because you still need to set your tv and receiver up correctly in order to take the correct signal.I have:a TCL QM7K TV that I had to disable EArc on (so it would only output arc)a FireTV stick that I had to set to Dobly Digital Plus (not auto)a Marantz SR5007 7.1 receiver that I had to use the non-arc hdmi port onOr I could just use an optical port, which worked right away. Problem is the optical signal cut out most of the base and sounded notably flat to me(and I'm not an Audiophile).I got this because my receiver could only pass through a 4k30hz signal and my TV requires 4k60hz or it goes down to 1080p.Update: Mine stopped working after a few weeks. I'm not sure if it died, or if something in the HDMI handshake changed.

Plug and play!
I bought a new television, and the audio output is HDMI Earc. Which I knew nothing about. Upon doing some research, I found this adapter that converts the signal to standard RCA jacks output. You plug this device in using an HDMI cable from the television, and RCA jacks to your audio source (receiver, sound bar). You also power the device with a USB cable (included). I used a 5 Volt phone charger (not included). Turned the device on, turned on the television. Now go into your audio settings and change the sound source to PCM audio. Exit settings and enjoy your sound system of choice.
