Filmed entirely on location in the Caribbean, this production tells the adventurous tale of a Puerto Rican boy who befriends a Paso Fino Palomino, a descendant of the horses of the Spanish conquistadors. The lad kidnaps the horse in order to ride in the island horse championships and, in so doing, learns a lesson in responsibility and honor.

Loved the movie, loved his grandson more! :)
I was so excited to find this movie on Amazon! I loved it the first time I saw it back in the seventies. As I was an avid horse lover and owner at the time, I began to search for a Paso breeder and found one in Walden, NY. Imagine my amazement when they led out their stallion--a copy of Cristobalito--with a much longer mane and tail! The breeders told me that this gorgeous animal was a son of Cristobalito! After meeting the mares and the two available colts, one a bright red chestnut and the other Palomino, I chose the Palomino. So excited I was! I owned a grandson of this beautiful Paso Fino I'd seen in a movie! To be fair, though, had I had the cash, I would have bought them both!Named him Domingo Miguel since I couldn't call him Cristobalito in any shape, way, or form.Unfortunately, just before his fourth birthday, Domingo developed moon blindness. Still, we rode the trails and he gave young riders a thrill around the pony ring. Very gentle and patient. I loved that colt. He even did well in Western classes and gymkhana events. We naturally did well in classes like the egg race or water glass races. Never did show him in breed-specific shows. But we did attend them just to watch these beautiful animals in motion.Great movie, great breed of horses. Wish I could own them again. Alas, not possible at this time.

Very interesting for fans of GAITED HORSES!
I had seen this film decades ago in the series of Disney "Wonderful World of Colour" and remembered especially the sequence where the horses compete in the Pasofino gait. Now I am very happy to have found it, and to have been able to see it again! It is just a short film of 47 minutes in length. It didn't say anything on the site about which region it was for, but it ended up being Region 1, USA. However, my DVD player, which is incorporated in my TV, played it anyway! I was so relieved! It must be a multi-regional one? I hope so, as I would love another DVD which is also Region 1 only. I will have to wait and see....So yes, this film is alright, but I'm not sure whether it would be for a mainstream audience. Children can like it, though, and anyone interested in gaited horses! It helps to open up a whole new world of horse-riding possibilities... in Puerto Rico!

A Present from the Past
I'm thrilled that this beloved Disney TV movie from my childhood has become available for purchase. For once I don't mind the "milk every dollar you can out of this puppy" attitude. It's more meaningful because as an adult I have become involved with Peruvian Pasos, a breed related to Paso Finos. Very special horses indeed. Though there are the usual "movie faux pas" related to horse facts, I enjoyed it greatly even accounting for the nostalgia. I have never heretofore written one of these silly reviews, but being so glad to have this movie again motivated me.

A slice of my childhood
This was one of my favorite episodes of "Wonderful World of Disney" when I was a child. A random internet search led me to this product, which I had no idea existed. It was truly a joy to see the story of a young boy and the horse he loves so much. A little of the history of the Paso Fino horse, a little history of Puerto Rico, some admittedly not fabulous acting ... but a great story about love and loyalty nonetheless.

Brought Me Back to My Childhood
I was so hoping that this movie would be as enjoyable as it was when I first saw it as a horse-loving kid. It didn't disappoint! I adore this little movie! Today I'm all grown up with paso horses of my own, and it still touched my heart.

If you like horses, you will love this movie
Great little movie about a Paso Fino horse who competes against professionally trained horses and wins. If you like horses and particularly, underdog horses who come out on top, you will love this.

Disney Special Movie
I am a long-time horse owner and appreciator. Since I try to purchase movies that feature horses, this was a natural choice. Being a Disney release is also in its favor. (I also purchased JUSTIN MORGAN HAD A HORSE, which is part of this same Generations collection. I have that movie on VHS tape, as well.) The story maintained my interest and left me in a happy mood. Good ending. I have not seen this movie offered anywhere else, so obtain your copy while they are available.

This was a movie I had looked for for many years. I was elated to find it on Amazon and at such a great price. The seller sent the item very quickly. It was in great condition and I've already watched it several times. Wonderful movie, great scenery, beautiful horses. I couldn't be any happier with this buy.
