Variable temperature but also variable performance
Bought one in 2013 to use for growing Clivia from seed. Used for about two months then and the same late winter/early spring period in 2014 and it was fine and warranted 5 stars. This year it started OK but has now become unreliable, bordering on useless. The light on the controller signals that it is in heat mode but no heating is actually happening. It was because the indicator light seemed to be permanently on that I realised something was amiss. The soil thermometer in the seed compost confirmed that the compost was cold. The kit is kept indoors, has been properly cared for and has suffered no trauma. Wouldn't risk another and am considering by passing the supplied thermostat and probe with a Bio Green thermostat/probe but at £50 or so it's an expensive solution. The three star rating is an average of it's initial performance and its current non-performance. NB: Bought locally, not through this supplier.
