hmmm different in a different way not so catchy either
Adam and eve opens up with a weird spacey keyboard thing, which leads into a catchy song that is quite long. After Unfold the future this album feels like a return to their older style but with a bit more acoustic guitar and slightly less melody. It also feels slightly more basic or subdued in its complextion at least for me the first listen I sort of turned off. However on second listen the catchy memorable parts appeared. The album is actually pretty good standard Flower Kings flair nothing particularly special but a nice set of songs. Love supreme the opening song I enjoy rather alot it is long but it has some really good melodies in it and some very nice guitar and keyboard in it. Cosmic circus is another shorter song I enjoy too. The songs on this album on average are much shorter than normal which is another show of how Flower Kings are changing things up a little bit. There are two longer songs and the rest are all under 10 minutes long. While there is nothing super exciting about this album like on space revolver I like to judge each album on its own merits and so I find this album to be a laidback slightly complex album that seems to have more acoustic guitar and more laidback keyboard and more bass heavy and crazy drums that aren't actually laid back in it. The vocals are all pretty good there are three vocalists this time which creates some pretty fun impressive harmonies. OH and on a side note CHECK OUT THAT TRIANGLE PLAYING ON LOVE SUPREME IT IS SUPREME :DTo conclude.this album is perhaps not as catchy or rememberable as other albums but I think it is an excellent piece of music and has alot of offer if you just listen to it carefully like your suppose too. again not really for casual listening

The Flower Kings - "Adam & Eve"
This CD shows the maturation of the band and is yet another conquering work. There are variations between large and small bands. The album is consistent and maintains the characteristic of the band with good variations on musicality. It's a good progressive rock album. The first track remembers the influence of Yes, the title track is a good rock and other tracks that characterize The Flower Kings. Very good! Note 8.0.

Very solid Flower kings album
I really don't know why this album has such a bad reputation. I found it to be really good!It also lasts an amazing 78 minutes, and there's no bonus tracks either. Believe me, that's 78 minutes of the very best of what the Flower kings represent! It also thankfully means a change from earlier albums, where overly-long tracks simply eventually got 'lost' in their length. No, here, every note seems worthy.Fear not, as the bombastic 'grand' sound that TFK are renowned for, is still alive and kicking too!I'd say definitely one of their best albums, and definitely not to be missed.

This years model!
Well, would you adam and eve it!! Another year, another Flower Kings album. It doesn't seem so long since the last, the excellent double album "Unfold the Future". So should we expect another studio album so soon? Well, it is Roine Stolts band so yes! The ever prolific guitarist doesn't know when to stop. Last year also saw his work on top albums by Kaipa and The Tangent. So does this latest stand up to what has gone before. Like previous albums, the answer is yes and no! All Flower King albums have their moments of brilliance and not so brilliance and this latest is no exception. The musicianship by all concerned is excellent, if anything the band is on top form here. They play with such ease and confidence that it is a joy just to here them perform. As always Stolts guitar playing is exemplary throughout.Whereas "Unfold the Future" was a bold affair, containing wonderful long form epic prog workouts like "The Truth Will Set You Free" and extending their palette to attempt some jazz fusion style material, here they content themselves with a more melodic, symphonic song based affair. There are two excellent long pieces on this in the form of the opening "Love Supreme" and "Drivers Seat". Actually this album harks back to 2001's "Rainmaker" album in style though the material on show here is much stronger. The album does take a few listens to sink in, but all Flower King albums are like that. There is never a shortage of material on offer and this CD clocks in at an ample 78 minutes . Standout tracks so far apart from the previous mentioned epics, are the short, but catchy "Cosmic Circus" and "Timelines" with it's frenetic Crimson like opening section. I am not sure about "Vampires View" which is a bit too theatrical and Steve Hackett does that kind of thing much better anyway. But all in all this is a fine addition to the hefty back catalogue. Stolt will be appearing later in the year on the much anticipated second Tangent album, on keyboardist Tomas Bodins "Swedish Family" project, then on...... , well you get the idea!

Outstanding flower kings .... as ever
The new realease by Ronie Stolt'Flower Kings is simply superb. As it always happen with this outstanding band, you will need 3 or 4 listens to find out all the incredible music in the record. This new one is more like Retropolis or Flower Power, a kind of "Yes - like" Flower Kings'sound. Do not miss "Love Supreme", "Cosmic Circus" and "Divers seat", they are simply amazing. Stolt's guitar is as good as ever, or even better in a "Howe-like" way. Mr.Reingold bass playing is remarkable and would be very difficult to find another bass like him in years.... By the way ... POS fans may enjoy the taste of this very good music, but Daniel contribution is only almost in the credits.

Overall a great outing by this supremely talented band.
70+ minutes of prog heaven! The Flower Kings always give a lotta music to the listener. The musicianship by all involved is incredible. The recording blasts off with a 19:50 minute song to get your full attention. That accomplished the set drops down to shorter (for The Kings) tunes. Track four "A Vampires View" is an interesting song followed by the shortest song on the album, "Days Gone By" is a beautiful track with some very nice keys. The title track is a really nice song as well. Roine plays some nice acoustic on "Timelines", just super. The band cranks up another long song with "Drivers Seat" clocking in at 18:22 minutes. As I stated the band's musical chops are on full display here. Roine Stolt is one of the absolute best of modern guitarists, the position I care about the most being a guitar guy myself. But that doesn't diminish the quality of the other players. Overall a great outing by this supremely talented band.

After SIX months of listening
Okay, this is a big edit of my review... this is a strange CD by TFK's.. I didn't know what to make of it when I first listened to it... and we all have CD's that we purchase and we wonder what it is about the music.. not sure if you like it, not sure if you DON'T like it.. then you give it time and it comes through like gangbusters... this IS one of those CD's.After six months, I am finding myself returning to TFK's Adam and Eve CD for some good stuff.. and it is quite a great CD. I know I may get beat up for this, but I think it is their best one yet. The songs LOVE SUPREME/DRIVERS SEAT/LOVE SUPREME and STARLIGHT MAN are just incredible. and the other songs I didn't mention are pretty good.. but those songs I mentioned could have been the ONLY songs on the CD and the CD would have been PERFECT.I really like the different type of sound on this cd.. it sounded odd.. was not expecting it at all.. and it was a pleasent experience. The song DRIVERS SEAT still gets me.I think that if you are open-minded enough to like TFK's out put so far then you will LOVE this material. If you have not bought a flower kings cd yet, then let this be your first. Great stuff.***** from earlier post, but still like what I wrote so here it is***************Consider these songs:Starlight Man - a very good song. And even though it is not an 'epic' song that tips the scales of 20 minutes or whatever, it is a very good solid wonderful song. I quite like it.Drivers Seat - is a totally wonderful song. And it reminds me a lot of YES in the glory years. Excellent song writing. And the weakness of epic songs, long songs, is the construction of them.. sometimes they go too long, or they just get unfocused.. or both.. and lets face it, YES has done that on occasion.. even the FK have done it from time to time... but it is a good risk to take when making epics... but this song is not a bad one .. it is a solid wonderful FK epic, one that I feel is a classic already from FK.

Being a new listener of the Flower Kings, I've found that the lyrics of Roine Stolt are always poetic and thought provoking. But the music is very complicated, and it takes a few listens to really get a feel for it. That said, Adam and Eve is really growing on me. I love the loose theme built around the Book Of Genesis, and while the music is not as experimental as Unfold The Future, it certainly shifts in many directions throughout the album. Roine Stolt is really a very special songwriter, and Adam And Eve is probably a masterpiece. Growing indeed! 4 stars today, probably 5 tomorrow! Adam And Eve is well worth your time and money

Symphonic pop/stadium rock blend
This 2004 release by Swedish outfit Flower Kings is another slab of symphonic pop with heavy influences from the 1970s stadium rock acts. The difference with Adam & Eve, however, is that the group appears to have tried to shake things up a bit. For example, they brought in the Pain of Salvation (POS) singer on a few tracks and used slightly different arrangements here and there. My general impression is that Adam & Eve is a vast improvement over the awful Unfold the Future (2002).In spite of the attempts to shake things up though, the music is still not much different than the typical combination of frothy pop leavened by heavier stadium rock riffs and superb keyboard playing by Tomas Bodin (I am a fan). Speaking of which, Tomas has a wonderful solo acoustic piano piece on Adam and Eve that was the highlight of the entire album for me. In general though, all of the players are pretty good.I am of the opinion that the Flower Kings could be an OK pop group - unfortunately, their vocalists and lyrics are atrocious - the campy vocal performance by the POS singer on A Vampires View does little to help things. So this leaves us with the instrumental aspects of the music. There is, admittedly, some good ensemble playing, and as I have mentioned, fantastic keyboard playing. I do not feel that this music is particularly progressive, however, and is closer to the symphonic pop and stadium rock of groups like Styx, Kansas, ELO, and Supertramp. I am not that cynical that I would dismiss nice melodies and solid playing though, and acknowledge that this album has both. It is just not particularly memorable. The production quality is excellent and the CD booklet comes with recording credits, the lyrics, and some arty images. Running time is approximately 80 minutes, which is a bit too long for material that I do not find interesting - in fact, I lost interest after 20 minutes or so.All in all, this is another Flower Kings album that blends pop, stadium rock, and symphonic pop. I just do not find the instrumental passages to be especially interesting and the melodies, although nice, are crippled by weak vocalists and spectacularly awful lyrics. This is an album that I can put on in the (noisy) car as background music. Although I will perk up and really listen to a passage or two once in a while (like Tomas' short solo piece), the moment passes quickly.
