Review: My Experience with Rust Bullet - I used this stuff on the rusty floorboards of my 76 GMC Pickup. I went through a learning curve as it is a very unique product. I read all the instructions. One thing I had to deal with not in the instructions was the sweltering heat and humidity we've been having lately here in East Tennessee. The product is ideal for rusty surfaces. The first coat soaks in the metal and actually strengthens it, so by the time you put on the second coat you've got a thicker sealed rust resistant piece of metal. I gave it a 4 star for 2 reasons, the price seems to be somewhat expensive compared to all the rust converters and primers, second the product itself, it has a short shelf life. I had some repairs to make before the main job and had trouble later on getting the lid off the can as this stuff acted like glue and almost bonded the lid on. I wound up pouring it into plastic containers with screw caps like vitamins would come in & even then it started to get hard and thick on top, so I wound up putting plastic wrap under the lid, putting the lid on tight and keeping it in the refrigerator. So I would recommend using it another time of the year when it's not so sweltering. So it's best to just open the can and use it immediately for your project. I should have ordered a smaller can to make the repairs before opening the main container. The first time I made the mistake of not wearing gloves & it took several days for it to come off & you've got to be careful to not get it on your car seats, etc so cover stuff with plastic or a tarp etc.. I would use some kind of solvent like acetone to clean drips up etc. This stuff seems to really bond to metal as a drop got on a pair of scissors and would not come off. So I think this is an ideal product for some projects like restoring an old rusty car or some metal objects exposed outdoors to the elements.
Review: Does not take much! - I love this product. I had no trouble whatsoever in opening the can. It comes with three little metal clips on the lid that you have to pry off. I used a small flathead screwdriver. After that, I just pried open the lid like any can of paint. Totally easy. I used this stuff to paint some rusty places underneath my car. (Be sure NOT to shake the can to mix the paint! Stir it with a popsicle stick, or whatever.) Painted one coat and waited overnight. I am impressed at how good it looks, with just one coat. I painted over some pretty bad rusty spots, and it adhered really well. Looks great actually. A bonus is that the color is almost identical to the color of my car. My only wish is that I had known how well it covers. I should have gotten the 4 ounce can. But since I have the large can, I plan to paint everything rusty under the can that I can reach, and give it all numerous coats. Even so, I will have alot left over. But, it is worth the $35 I paid, just to get everything done. With 5 or 6 coats, this stuff should be bullet proof, if the first coat is any indication. I live in Maine, so we will see how well the paint holds up under a Maine winter and the major road salt we live with. For now, I'm very happy with the product.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this product able to be welded through?**
A: Hello:
The extreme heat involved in the welding process will disintegrate Rust Bullet, and most other coatings. If welding is necessary after Rust Bullet has already been applied, then it should be removed prior to welding and reapplied afterward. After curing, all Rust Bullet coatings have a service temperature of 314F (157C) continuous and can tolerate maximum temperatures up to 662F (350C) for up to 72 hours.

**Q: does it come in white?**
A: Rust Bullet only comes in silver but had a very durable white top coat. I have used both the black and red top coat and it is very durable.

**Q: What kind of paint would use for finish coat.**
A: All depends on what your painting. You could go on the cheap end and simply use rustoluem paints, or buy professional autobody primers and topcoats. I plan to topcoat with epoxy primer from a HVLP paint gun and then topcoat with the color I plan to paint the car i used the rust bullet on. I only used the paint on areas that are mostly hidden after final assembly, but want everything the same color.

**Q: no se reduce la pintura**
A: It is not recommended to thin Rust Bullet Coatings. If you intend to spray with an HVLP, you can use a 2.0 tip. Rust Bullet is ready to use right from the can, and you would want to adjust your equipment as opposed to adjusting the coating. Once thinned, it in not the same formulation and will not work the same as when it was made. You can use Rust Bullet Solvent or Xylene for clean-up of equipment.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rock hard...tuff coating.
*by D***R on 11 March 2020*

I used this on my rusted truck frame and other parts. I put on two coats and this goes farther than I expected. I bought two pint cans as I know once opened it will begin to cure if not used within a few weeks. The smaller pint is less waste if it does cure before its used up. This is thicker than POR 15 and it gives a good first coat where POR 15 is kind of see through on the first coat. I haven't had the truck in the weather yet but by the way this dried so hard and covered so well I trust it will protect the metal. It also adheres to prepped bare steel unlike POR15 which peels off bare unrusted steel. The only thing I don't like is the color. Its an aluminum colored silver and using it on a frame Id prefer black. One tip...don't get it on your skin or clothing. Lacquer thinner will take it off your skin if you get it before it dries. I plan to use this instead of POR 15 from now on.
