Purely awesome release packed full of desirable features - Large model fits medium hand
Large Size model fits my medium sized hand identically to the tru-ball blade pro flex medium size. Key factor here is groove size for index finger. Stan web site has templates that can be printed for proper size selection. This release has crisp trigger with adjustable tension and travel and has trigger position adjustments allowing for perfect fit to hand to permit wrapping thumb around trigger if desired to fire by pulling back further on release once at full draw instead of consciously moving thumb.Configurable for 2, 3, or 4 finger grip with angle of 3rd and 4th finger adjustable together.Color of the release is more of satin aluminum color rather than being highly reflective although the trigger, buttons, and jaw hook are highly reflective. Thus, the blackout version might appeal more to certain users who wish to minimize all reflections.Cocking button is easy to press. It presses upward by thumb toward index finger, which can be done easily by allowing the release to tilt slightly upward while pressing cocking button.Unlike many other string capturing releases, this release can be cocked before placing on d-loop. After cocking, just basically sweeping your knuckles across the d-loop can easily snag the loop with the jaw hook and then the string retainer will snap closed so that it will stay on the loop - a very clever design.A bonus feature of the Stan is the trainer locking pin that allows you to lock the release to prevent actual firing when you are experimenting with the effect of different adjustments so that you can fully test without actually firing. With the pin in place, the release clicks when firing but does not actually release the string. This lightweight release with crisp trigger has provided tighter grouping of arrows on target.Only possible improvement that comes to mind would be for a wrist lanyard to be included, especially if designed to withstand draw weight of bow rather than the smaller one offered by mfr. Calipers indicate the lanyard boss might to accept up to a 2mm paracord, so I will be making the wrist lanyard myself since a strong one appears to not be readily available. I already tried a 3mm paracord and it was barely too large for me to fit into the boss.A truly awesome well-made lightweight release.

A release truly made for YOUR hand and style
I've recently gotten into compound bow archery and was setup with an index style for my first release. After trying out a friend's Carter I decided to switch to a handheld. I tried visiting a few shops, but with COVID restrictions trying out different releases has been nearly impossible. As a person with long fingers I wasn't sure if I could find a release that would fit my hand. Thankfully I found out Stan has printable to-scale PDF cutouts of all their releases in various sizes on their website. If you're unsure whether you want a: Perfex Short or Long Neck, a Medium or Large, 3 or 4 finger, then go to the site and print their cutouts to compare them directly to your hand. The Perfex Long Neck has "infinite customizability" which is true when adjusting the release, however there are limitations. The release can be set to a 2, 3 or 4 finger draw. The finger attachment can also be set to be more swept back or flatter depending on your hand. The box says that it is set with moderate tension and trigger travel, however I found it to be extremely sensitive out of the box. The tension can be set reliably smooth, however I found that if you set the trigger travel to be too loose, it can feel as if the trigger pull has two stages instead of just one smooth click. The thumb barrel knob comes in two sizes and the angle in which it sits can also be tweaked. They also include 5 different shaft lengths that attach your knob to the trigger. The training pin is also a great feature that doesn't get enough attention. Using the release with a practice shot trainer is nice, but being able to actually use it on your bow without fear of dry-fire is a feature that should be standard on all future releases.Once you've gotten your Perfex settings tweaked, it truly feels as if it is made for your hand. I never understood why releases cost so much until I held my Perfex. The level of design that went into the ergonomics of this release are remarkable. The weight and feel of the release makes it a pleasure to hold. Even clicking the Perfex with a practice shot trainer is extremely gratifying. A truly fantastic release made for your hand.

This is a great release.
I replaced my Stan SX3 4-finger thumb release with this Stan Perfex. I thought the SX3 would be my last release, but then I discovered the Perfex. The Perfex is also a thumb release and is very, very, very sensitive, which I love. Be REAL sure that your trigger finder and BEHIND the trigger as you use the Perfex to draw your bow,, because just the slightest touch fires it.It's a great release, but that's what I'd expect - it's a Stan.
