> DOES THE JOB
Although very similar, this is item (KD-MN01) is not the same item as (BLACK) KD-MN02 Portable Mini Music SD USB Speaker FM for PC Mobile Phone MP3 PlayerBoth have built-in rechargeable batteries charged via USB, and can be used as speakers for virtually any device which can be connected via a mini-audio plug. Both have built-in micro-SD card readers (no SD card included) which can be loaded (with music, etc.) by connecting to your computer via the USB Cord. Both come with a USB-A to USB-mini-B adapter and a mini-headphone to mini-headphone cord. The MNO2 has a USB-thumbdrive reader, earphone plug, and FM radio which the MN01 lacks.Honestly, I prefer the MNO1 because it is so much more compact. Also, the (already baffling) operation of the MNO2 is more complex, meaning that you can accidentally push a button and it goes off to La-La Land until you figure out how to get back to whatever you wanted it to do (mostly by pushing various buttons at random for 15 minutes). The simpler MN01 functions as a speaker, and little else, so it is harder to "mess up".-------------------------MN01---MN02Buttons/Controls--Mode--------------------n--------y--Repeat------------------y--------y--Play/pause/stop---------y--------y--Back/Vol----------------y--------y--Forward/Vol+------------y--------y--EQ----------------------y--------y--Power(on/off)-----------y--------yConnections--USB-mini-B--------------y--------y--Line-in------------------y--Line-in/FM Antenna------n--------y--Micro SD----------------y--------y--USB-thumbdrive---------n--------y--Headphone socket-------n--------ySize--tall---------------------2------2 1/2--diameter--------------1 7/8----2 1/4Plays/input--any mini-audio----------y--------y--Micro SD card-----------y--------y--USB thumbdrive---------n--------y--built-in FM radio---------n--------yOutput--speaker-----------------y--------y--headphones-------------n--------yQuality of--Instructions-----------poor----worseNeither unit comes with useful instructions. Getting various options to work requires weird combinations of button pressing. However, if like me, all you want is a terrific sounding, great looking little speaker--both are excellent.> Click on “Stoney” just below the product title to see my other reviews, or leave a comment to ask a question.

Packs a punch for its small size
It packs a host of features for its price point and diminutive size. Can be used stand-alone with a USB or Micro SD pre-loaded with music, or as an external speaker with its line-in connection. Sound quality and volume is decent for its size as it can definitely fill a small room with mostly distortion-free sound even at its lower volume levels. Battery life is on the low-end of the spectrum, with a maximum of three in my testing, but it does charge fast, and will get you through some tunes or pod casts. The sound quality definitely starts to degrade as the power level drops, as well as its ability to even play songs at all, so make sure it's fully charged before deciding it doesn't work. While I've had it several years, I've since upgraded to a more powerful Bluetooth portable speaker, but I'd definitely bring this camping or to the beach with a cheap SD card full of appropriate music.

Good listening
The feature of this tiny speaker is great for the money. If you are looking for a more deep base to your sound, you may look at the larger Bluetooth version. This speaker is good, it compares to a louder version of a phone speaker on an iPhone, again, the volume does boost quite a bit.The radio works well and comes in clear, but figuring out what station you are on is a challenge.Charging is a snap, via the USB and charge holds a long time.Over all, this is a nice compact speaker for the money.

A super product.
Hope my review is not premature since I received it just a few hours ago. About the size of a mini teacup. Came with battery already charged. Have only used it with a mini SD card and the sound is terrific - loud and crisp clear. Aluminium housing makes it feel very sturdy and hardy and the weight ensures that it stays firmly wherever you place it. If it lasts it will certainly have bee n a super buy.

Some weird issues, but seems to do it's basic job
Edit 4/12/2014: Both units have completely stopped working. Will not charge, will not turn on when plugged in. DO NOT BUY. I'm outside the return window, so I'm screwed, but you don't have to be!Ok weird issues:-Seems to turn on in radio mode, as it blasts white noise upon turning on.-Sound is very scratchy and distorted when plugged in to a USB power source.-EQ options don't sound any different from each other.Cons:-No way to tell when the battery is low.-I ordered two of these, thankfully, as the included power cord for one of them (just a USD-microUSB, so common enough to replace I guess) broke almost instantly in my hands. The plastic housing on the USB side opened and the red wire was separated from it's solder point. If I had a solder gun, I could easily fix it, but this particular piece is super shoddily made.I just got them in the mail this afternoon, so I don't know what the battery life is like, but they both powered right up. I have one playing music now and one on the remaining charger cord in the 'off' position. I can't tell if it's charging, though. The instructions say "Off charge: the power light is red." There is no red light. The instructions also say "Switched charge: when using the adapter to charge the normal music, this time the power light is pink.Use the original USB charge cable to the computer, automatically converted to storage. (In order to extend battery life in the off state of charge recommended)" So.... I guess we'll see.Pros:-Plays audio clearly and loudly as long as it's not plugged in to any kind of power.-Small
