Turbo reader Spiral-bound – January 1, 2001

I used Mrs. Schlafly's phonics program when it was known as First Reader. I taught both my children to read using this program exclusively. Now I purchased it for my granddaughter. If you are in a school system that is stuck/caught in the Look-Say method or one of several other whole language or whole word programs, I highly suggest teaching your own child to read at home using Turbo Reader. It is simple, straightforward, and if you follow the directions your child will be reading at a third grade level in just a few months. About 20 minutes twice a day (morning and evening) and you will be amazed at how quickly your child can learn to read. Teaching reading is not rocket science. A good phonics program like Turbo Reader is all you need. After that, make sure your child has plenty of good books to read, and keep reading to your child. Reading is the best gift you can give a child, for if he can read, he can learn anything.

We have an older grandchild that was having a hard time reading. We have tried a lot of different ways to help him. This turned out to be one of the best books that I have found for him. It pinpointed where he was having trouble and we were able to build on that. He was sick alot in first grade so we found the areas where he missed. It was a real eye opener for us to be able to see just where he had missed out. It is a great book, has good stories. He especially liked the Aesop fables that were in the book. Just in the short time we used it we have seen an improvement. Great book. I highly recommend it.

I taught four of my five children to read with this book(found it after my first). When they complete the book they are ready for the second grade. I was a homeschooler dad and the time spent sharing this book with them was some of some of my favorite.

This is similar to First Reader by Phyllis Schlafly. There are some minor differences.
