The chia seeds make a little goo when the get wet. Wait long enough for this goo to appear. It will assist greatly in getting the little seeds to stick all over the pet. Once the seeds get saturated with water they are committed to sprouting. If they dry out after germination has begun they will rapidly die and you will need to wash them all off and begin again. **Q: Is this a Chia that grows food specifically for CATS to eat?** A: No, the plant grows regular chia. The only connection it has with cats is that the planter body is cat shaped. **Q: Can I grow cat grass in this?** A: This item is for decorative purposes. **Q: Does it come with seeds** A: Very few ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Funny gift idea *by on Reviewed in the United States 28 June 2026* Bought for a gift. Good side, and made a lot of people laugh ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Who Doesn't Like A Chia Pet! Meet ChEllie. *by on Reviewed in the United States 19 June 2013* Who doesn't remember or like a Chia Pet. I was actually looking for Chia seeds for adding to smoothies or baking. What popped up was the Chia Pets! I could not resist! The elephant just was too cute! Received it fast with Prime shipping! I remember getting one for my son many years ago! What fun watching the rapid sprouting seeds grow! Now the clay figures are made in China not Mexico as before. I gave our pet a name ChEllie since she is a Chia and an elephant. This is still a great little fun item for the kid in all of us! It comes with a plastic tray that the pet sits in to collect the water. You have seeds for several sproutings. After soaking the clay pet the seeds gel up and it is easy to spread them on the ridges of the clay figurine. ChEllie with all her sprouts made me smile! If it brings a smile it is well worth it! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So cute *by on Reviewed in the United States 28 January 2025* I love that this is still a thing, can’t wait to see it grow lol ## Frequently Bought Together - Chia Pet Elephant with Seed Pack, Decorative Pottery Planter, Easy to Do and Fun to Grow, Novelty Gift, Perfect for Any Occasion - Chia Pet Hedgehog Decorative Pottery Planter with Seed Pack, Decorative Pottery Planter, Easy to Do and Fun to Grow, Novelty Gift, Perfect for Any Occasion - Chia Pet Unicorn with Seed Pack, Decorative Pottery Planter, Easy to Do and Fun to Grow, Novelty Gift, Perfect for Any Occasion --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.be/products/595914004-chia-pet-elephant-with-seed-pack-decorative-pottery-planter-easy](https://www.desertcart.be/products/595914004-chia-pet-elephant-with-seed-pack-decorative-pottery-planter-easy) --- *Product available on Desertcart Belgium* *Store origin: BE* *Last updated: 2026-10-02*
